MidReal Story

Tempted by My Mom’s Friend

Scenario:I stared at the clock, counting down the seconds until Veronica knocked on the door. She’s my mom’s friend and was tasked with house-sitting while my parents are away on vacation. Apparently, they didn’t trust me to be alone at the house. Finally, I heard the knock. Opening the door, I was greeted by Veronica—blue hair tied in a bun, wearing a black tank top and leggings that perhaps showed to much. "Heyyyy! Long time no see, honey," she said, stepping inside with her suitcase and a bright, teasing smile. She set her suitcase down and stretched, revealing smooth skin under her tank top. "Looks like we’ll be alone together for a while," she added with a wink. Her gaze shifted toward the backyard. "I heard you have a pool... Maybe I'll let you watch as I swim with my bikini on."

My parents are going out of town for a few days.
They're visiting his sister and their family.
I was looking forward to going with them, but I won't be able to any longer.
They're leaving me here with their friend Veronica.
I don't know her that well, but my mom says she's a good person.
I just met her a few times.
I can't remember what she looks like, but I'll remember as soon as I see her.
"Christine, are you ready?" my mom asked.
"Let me check on you," she said, coming over to me.
My mom always checks on me before we go anywhere.
Tempted by My Mom’s Friend
She looked me over, fussing with my clothes and hair one last time.
Her hands were shaking a bit as she smoothed down my sweater.
She's never left me alone with anyone else before.
I could tell she was nervous.
My dad was outside loading the last suitcase into their car.
My mom was going through her checklist of emergency contacts and house rules with me one last time.
I nodded mechanically as she talked, stealing glances at the driveway.
Veronica's red sports car just pulled up.
I couldn't see much of her from here, but I saw her blue hair when she got out of the car.
It caught the morning light in a nice way.
Tempted by My Mom’s Friend
She waved at us and came up to the door.
My mom's hands were gripping the steering wheel now, her knuckles white.
My dad gave one last wave before climbing in the passenger seat.
Their car backed slowly down the driveway.
Veronica was standing beside me now, her arm draped casually over my shoulder.
My mom glanced at us in the rearview mirror a few times before they turned the corner and were gone.
The house was quiet again after they left.
Veronica's fingers traced small circles on my shoulder, and I tensed under her touch.
I stepped away from her, pulling my phone out of my pocket to check it like I'd been meaning to all morning.
Veronica watched me with that same teasing smile she had when she got out of her car.
"Let's see what kind of trouble we can get into," she said, her eyes glinting with mischief.
Tempted by My Mom’s Friend
I went inside and sat on the living room couch, scrolling through my phone.
The afternoon sun made long shadows through the windows.
Clouds were gathering in the distance, their undersides dark and foreboding.
A rumble of thunder sounded in the distance.
Veronica came down from upstairs, her suitcase still unpacked.
She was wearing a silk robe now, cinched at the waist and showing off her smooth legs.
She came over to the couch and sat down beside me, too close for my liking.
The robe was thin and clung to her body, revealing a lot more than it hid.
She reached for the TV remote on the table between us and turned it on.
Her robe shifted as she stretched out her arm, giving me a glimpse of the curve of her breast. The storm outside was picking up strength.
Tempted by My Mom’s Friend
Wind was howling through the trees now, sending leaves scattering across our lawn.
The first raindrops hit our windows in a staccato beat that grew stronger by the second.
Veronica settled back into her seat on the couch with a happy sigh.
The TV was playing some afternoon talk show, but she wasn't paying attention to it.
I shifted away from her, trying to put more space between us without being obvious about it.
Tempted by My Mom’s Friend
Her thigh pressed against mine when I moved, sending an electric shock up my arm that I couldn't ignore.
The TV flickered once, twice, and then went black as the storm surged around us.
A crack of thunder shook the house and sent our lights out as well.
I froze at the sudden crash, my body tense as Veronica's hand closed around my arm.
The only light was what little filtered through our windows from the stormy sky, sending flashes of lightning that made the shadows dance across the walls.
Veronica pulled her phone out and used it as a flashlight.
She stood up and looked at me expectantly.
"We should check what that was," she said softly, tugging me up by my arm.
I didn't want to go upstairs.
Something felt wrong about it.
The darkness was oppressive and suffocating.
But I couldn't think of any good reason to protest, so I followed her as she went toward the stairs.
The wooden steps creaked under our feet as we climbed.
Her silk robe brushed against my arm with each step.
"Did you hear that?" Veronica whispered, pausing halfway up the stairs.
I nodded, my heart pounding in my chest.
"It sounded like it came from your parents' room," she continued, her voice barely audible over the storm.
I followed her up the rest of the stairs.
She went to my parents' bedroom door, which was closed.
She opened it slowly, her robe brushing against me in the narrow doorway.
She swept her phone light around the room, illuminating my parents' bed, dresser, and nightstand.
I hung back near the threshold.
Something felt off about this room with her in it.
It was my parents' private space, and she shouldn't be in here.
Then a loud buzz filled the air, making me jump.
Electricity surged through the house, sending the lights flickering on and then off again.
They settled into a steady glow after a second or two, casting an eerie yellow light over everything.
Tempted by My Mom’s Friend
The room was exactly as my parents had left it this morning.
My dad's reading glasses were still sitting on his nightstand next to his book.
My mom's sweater was still draped over the chair by their door. Veronica pouted, clearly disappointed that there wasn't anything more dramatic going on.
She ran her fingers along the edge of my parents' bed as she walked closer to it.
I stepped back, deciding it was time to set boundaries.
Tempted by My Mom’s Friend
"Maybe we should check my room next," I suggested, hoping to steer her away from this part of the house.
Veronica followed me as I went down the hall to my room.
Her robe rustled with each step.
I stopped at my bedroom door, hand on the doorknob.
Through the gap at the bottom, I saw a shadow move.
Tempted by My Mom’s Friend
Veronica pressed against my back, her hands reaching around me to push the door open.
The hinges creaked as it swung wide.
My curtains were fluttering in the wind from my open window, which I was certain I'd closed before going downstairs.
Rain spattered on the windowsill and carpet.
I rushed to the window, my bare feet sinking into the wet carpet with each step.
The curtains whipped around me as I reached for the window frame.
Veronica stayed by the door, watching me struggle with the heavy glass pane.
Rain pattered on my arms and face as I leaned out slightly, gripping the slippery window.
The metal handle was ice-cold against my palm.
I planted my feet firmly and pulled hard, but the window stuck.
Behind me, Veronica didn't make a move to help—just stood there with that same smile on her face.
I heaved again, and this time the window shut with a loud thud.
"Why was it open?" Veronica asked, her voice carrying a hint of amusement.
"I don't know," I replied, wiping the rain from my face, "but I swear I closed it before."
Tempted by My Mom’s Friend
"Maybe someone else wanted it open," she said cryptically, her eyes gleaming in the dim light.
I shivered in my wet clothes, droplets falling from my sleeves onto the carpet.
Veronica stepped closer, her hand reaching out to touch my shoulders.
I backed away, my bare heels sinking into the damp carpet.
I stopped when I bumped into my dresser, and Veronica kept coming until she was right in front of me.
"You'll catch a cold like this," she said, fingers brushing against my damp shirt.
Tempted by My Mom’s Friend
"Let me get you something dry."
Before I could protest, she opened my dresser drawers and started rifling through them.
Her robe slipped off one shoulder as she bent forward to pull out my favorite sweater.
"Here," she said, holding it out to me, "put this on."
My fingers trembled as I reached for the sweater.
Her robe slipped down her shoulder further, exposing more skin.
The soft fabric pooled around her elbow as she stepped closer.
She pressed the sweater into my hands, and then my fingers lost their grip and it fell to the floor between us.
I backed away, bumping into my dresser again.
Veronica didn't make a move to pick it up.
Instead, she adjusted her robe so the other shoulder was exposed, watching me with that same teasing smile.
The room felt smaller, the air heavy with unspoken tension.
I stared at her exposed shoulders, my hand reaching out against my will.
My fingertips brushed against the silk of her robe, tracing the edge near her collarbone.
She stayed perfectly still, watching me with that same smile.
My grip tightened on the fabric, and my other hand braced against the dresser behind me.
The wood pressed into my back as I tried to keep a safe distance while still holding onto her robe.
Tempted by My Mom’s Friend
Thunder boomed outside, making me jump, but I didn't release my hold.
Veronica didn't seem to notice the storm raging outside, but I could feel the electricity in the air, building in my veins.
I could feel my control slipping, my fingers tightening on her robe.
She shifted closer, her hand reaching up to touch mine.
Her eyes stayed locked on mine as she pressed her palm against my trembling hands.
I could feel the heat of her body through the thin silk, and my heart pounded harder.
The storm raged on outside, lightning illuminating the dark room with flashes of light.
Thunder boomed through the walls, making it hard to hear anything else.
I stared at Veronica's shoulders, exposed and smooth beneath my fingertips.
The silk felt cool against my skin as I held onto it tighter.
She leaned closer, her breath hot against my ear.
Tempted by My Mom’s Friend
"I can make you feel better," she whispered.
I closed my eyes, trying to push away the conflicting emotions that threatened to overwhelm me.
But they were there, swirling around me like the storm outside. The room seemed to shrink as I felt trapped between desire and fear.
I wanted to tear her robe away from her shoulders, but I was scared of what would happen next.
I felt like I was standing at the edge of a cliff, unsure if I should take that final step forward.
Tempted by My Mom’s Friend
The thunder roared again, drowning out all other thoughts as I made my decision.
"Why are you doing this, Veronica?" I asked, my voice barely audible over the storm.
Her smile faded slightly, replaced by a look of genuine concern.
"Because I know what you're hiding," she replied softly, "and it's time you faced it."
I stared at her face, my fingers still gripping her silk robe.
Memories flooded back to me, like the storm raging outside.
Three years ago, at my parents' summer barbecue - her catching me watching her in the pool, the knowing looks she gave me as I hid in my room afterward.
She moved closer now, her hand sliding up my arm.
"You watched me that day, didn't you?" she whispered.
My face burned with shame as I remembered every detail.
She traced my jawline with her finger, making me shiver.
"I saw how you looked at me."
I tried to speak, but words wouldn't come.
Her eyes softened, and she leaned in closer, her voice barely above a whisper.
Tempted by My Mom’s Friend
"I wasn't the only one who noticed," she continued, "your father saw it too."
My heart skipped a beat, fear and confusion colliding as I pulled back slightly.
I released my grip on her robe and steadied myself against the dresser, forcing myself to meet her gaze.
The storm raged on outside, but I knew I had to face what she was saying.
I took a deep breath, trying to find my voice.
"That day by the pool," I began, my voice shaking, "I watched you swimming."
I closed my eyes, remembering the way she moved through the water.
Her body glided effortlessly, her arms and legs working together in perfect harmony.
I could feel the sun beating down on my skin as I stood there, mesmerized by her movements.
She was like a fish, gliding through the water with ease.
I couldn't take my eyes off of her.
The sound of her laughter echoed through the air as she played in the pool, completely unaware of my gaze.
Tempted by My Mom’s Friend
It was like nothing I had ever seen before. Veronica stayed silent, watching me as I relived that moment by the pool.
When I finally opened my eyes again, she nodded slightly.
"I remember that day," she said softly.
"I caught you staring at me."
I felt a flush rise to my cheeks as I remembered how embarrassed I had been when she caught me watching her.
But now, three years later, it seemed like a lifetime ago.
"I'm sorry," I whispered, feeling a mix of emotions swirling inside me.
Veronica's expression shifted from teasing to serious as she stepped back slightly, giving me space to breathe.
Lightning illuminated the room for a moment, casting an eerie glow over everything.
"Your father didn't just see you watching," she continued, her voice steady, "he saw something in you that day, something he feared."
Tempted by My Mom’s Friend
I swallowed hard, my mind racing to comprehend her words.
"What do you mean? What did he see?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Veronica held out an envelope, its edges worn and yellowed with age.
She kept it just out of my reach, making me stretch across the space between us.
I could feel the paper against my fingertips, but she pulled it back before I could grab it.
"What's in there?"
I demanded, my voice shaking with anticipation.
Tempted by My Mom’s Friend
"It's a letter," Veronica replied, her voice steady.
"Your father wrote it three years ago, after the pool incident."
She unfolded the paper slowly, deliberately drawing out the moment.
I stared at the unfolded letter in her hands, my heart pounding in my chest.
The storm raged on outside, but I barely noticed it anymore.
All I could focus on was the paper in her hands, and the secrets it held.
Veronica cleared her throat, preparing to read the words that would change everything.
My legs weakened, and I sank down onto the bed, bracing myself for what was to come.
She began to read, her voice steady and clear.
"Christine," she started, using my full name instead of the nickname she'd always used before.
"I'm writing this letter to you because I fear what might happen if I don't."
I felt a shiver run down my spine as Veronica continued reading.
"The day by the pool," she said, her voice echoing through the room, "I saw something in your eyes that day. It wasn't just curiosity or innocence," she went on, her voice unwavering.
Tempted by My Mom’s Friend
"It was something more."
I swallowed hard, remembering that moment by the pool.
The way Veronica had caught me staring at her, and how I had felt like I'd been caught doing something wrong.
But now, as she read those words aloud, I realized that there had been more to it than I'd ever imagined.
Veronica paused for a moment, collecting herself before continuing.
"I've suspected it for a while now," she read on.
"But seeing you by the pool that day confirmed my fears."
My heart raced as I listened to Veronica's words, trying to make sense of what was happening.
"What did he suspect?"
I asked softly, my voice barely above a whisper. "He suspected that you weren't his biological daughter," Veronica replied gently.
She set the letter down on the bed beside me, giving me a moment to process everything she'd just revealed.
The words swirled in my mind, making it hard to focus on anything else.
I stared at the paper in front of me, trying to make sense of it all.
The storm raged on outside, but it seemed insignificant compared to what was happening inside me.
Veronica's voice brought me back to reality as she continued reading from the letter.
Tempted by My Mom’s Friend
"He wrote about how he noticed your looks didn't match his or your mother's," she said softly.
"He mentioned how your hair was different from theirs."
I closed my eyes as Veronica's words washed over me. The storm outside seemed to grow louder with each passing minute, but it was nothing compared to the storm brewing inside me.
