Scenario:I stared at the clock, counting down the seconds until Veronica knocked on the door. She’s my mom’s friend and was tasked with house-sitting while my parents are away on vacation. Apparently, they didn’t trust me to be alone at the house.
Finally, I heard the knock. Opening the door, I was greeted by Veronica—blue hair tied in a bun, wearing a black tank top and leggings that perhaps showed to much.
"Heyyyy! Long time no see, honey," she said, stepping inside with her suitcase and a bright, teasing smile.
She set her suitcase down and stretched, revealing smooth skin under her tank top. "Looks like we’ll be alone together for a while," she added with a wink.
Her gaze shifted toward the backyard. "I heard you have a pool... Maybe I'll let you watch as I swim with my bikini on."

"See you in two weeks, baby girl," Mom kissed the back of my hand before she gave me one last hug.
"I love you."
"I love you too, Mom," I said as I hugged her back and stepped back so Dad could have his turn with me.
He hugged me and kissed my forehead.
"Take care of yourself and be good," he said.
"I will, Dad," I smiled up at him and stepped back from him so he could hug Veronica next.
"Thank you so much for this, Veronica," he said as he let her go.
"It's no problem at all," she said as she looked over at me.
"We are going to have a blast together aren't we?"
"Yes," I smiled at her.
My parents were leaving me with their friend Veronica while they went on vacation for two weeks.
They were going to visit his parents in Italy.
I was a little bitter about not being able to go with them because I had always wanted to visit Italy, but I was also excited to spend some time with Veronica.
She was cool in my book.
"Ready to get this party started?" she grinned seductively at me once they were in their car and driving away.
I narrowed my eyes at her and tilted my head to the side.
"What party?"
She laughed and rolled her eyes at me before she turned around and headed toward the front door.
I trailed behind her and watched as her hips swayed with every step.
She was a little older than my parents, but she had a body of a twenty-five-year-old.
She wore tight blue jeans that were tucked into her black boots and a black tank top that hugged her breasts tightly.
She had blue hair that was tied up in a high bun and big brown eyes that were always full of mischief.
I followed her into the living room where she dropped onto our leather couch and kicked off her shoes.
She propped her feet up on our coffee table and looked back at me expectantly.
I hovered by the door, unsure where to sit.
"Sit next to me," she patted the space beside her and smiled at me.
When I didn’t move, she reached into her purse and pulled out a small silver flask before she unscrewed the cap and took a long sip from it.
The smell of alcohol hit my nose when she breathed out.
I walked over and sat down on the couch beside her, keeping a small distance between us.
She took another sip from her flask before she turned and slid closer to me, her thigh brushing against mine.
She held out her flask to me with a smile.
"Want some?"
I stared at the flask in her hand as I thought about what I should do.
If my mom knew I was being offered alcohol, she would be furious.
But I also didn’t want Veronica to think I was a child.
I wrapped my fingers around the cold metal and raised it to my lips.
The liquid burned my throat when I swallowed and I coughed, trying to catch my breath.
Veronica laughed and reached around me to rub my back.
Her hand stayed on my back for longer than it needed to and I shifted away from her touch.
The burning sensation in my chest slowly faded and a warmth spread through my body, starting at my chest and working its way down to my fingers and toes.
Everything felt softer and warmer now, like I was wrapped in a blanket.
I took another sip of the whiskey, this time bigger than the last.
Veronica smiled at me and leaned closer, her thigh pressing firmly against mine.
She took the flask from my hand and set it down on the coffee table in front of us before she turned back to me with a smile.
"So," she said as she picked up my hand and began tracing patterns on my arm with her fingers.
"I used to throw the best parties in college. You should have seen them."
She giggled as she thought about whatever memory had just popped into her head.
"We would have hundreds of people show up every weekend. The cops were always showing up, but we always managed to talk our way out of trouble."
She leaned closer to me, her breath smelling of whiskey as she whispered in my ear, "We would always sneak off into the bedrooms with cute boys." I felt my cheeks heat up at her words and I looked down at my lap.
Veronica laughed again and squeezed my knee before she picked up the flask and took another sip from it.
"Want some more?"
She held out the flask to me again and I nodded without thinking about what I was doing.
I took a big sip this time, not wanting her to think I was immature.
The whiskey burned even worse this time and tears sprang into my eyes as I tried to hold back a cough.
Veronica laughed again as she patted me on the back.
"You okay there?"
I nodded at her as I tried to catch my breath.
She reached behind her and pulled out a bottle of water from her purse before she unscrewed the cap and handed it to me. "Here," she said as she smiled at me again.
"This will help."
I took a big drink from the bottle of water before I handed it back to her.
The cool water helped soothe the burning sensation in my chest that was slowly spreading through my body.
"Now," Veronica said as she shifted closer to me again, "want something a little stronger?"
I hesitated, feeling the weight of my decision settle heavily in the room.
I nodded slowly, my inhibitions lowered by the whiskey.
Veronica grinned as she reached into her purse and pulled out a small bag of white powder.
She opened the bag and poured a small pile onto the coffee table in front of us before she pulled out a credit card and began spreading it out into neat lines.
I watched as she picked up a rolled-up bill and demonstrated how to snort it up your nose.
The whiskey already had everything feeling hazy, but I was curious about what else she had to offer.
Veronica looked at me with a smile as she held out the rolled-up bill to me.
I took it from her trembling fingers and leaned forward, positioning the bill over one of the lines on the table.
Veronica stroked my back as I sat up, coughing.
