Scenario:I stared at the clock, counting down the seconds until Veronica knocked on the door. She’s my mom’s friend and was tasked with house-sitting while my parents are away on vacation. Apparently, they didn’t trust me to be alone at the house.
Finally, I heard the knock. Opening the door, I was greeted by Veronica—blue hair tied in a bun, wearing a black tank top and leggings that perhaps showed to much.
"Heyyyy! Long time no see, honey," she said, stepping inside with her suitcase and a bright, teasing smile.
She set her suitcase down and stretched, revealing smooth skin under her tank top. "Looks like we’ll be alone together for a while," she added with a wink.
Her gaze shifted toward the backyard. "I heard you have a pool... Maybe I'll let you watch as I swim with my bikini on."

My parents are going out of town for a few days.
They're leaving me in the care of their friend Veronica.
I've never met her before, but my mom says she's cool and will take good care of me until they get back.
The only thing that is bothering me is that she's taking over the house.
I don't like strangers being in my space for that long a time, but I guess I'll just have to deal with it.
"Christine, come meet Veronica before we go."
My mom calls from downstairs, and I hurry to obey.
When I get downstairs, my mom and dad are standing in the living room talking to a lady with striking blue hair in a bun on her head.
When she turns to face me, I gasp.
She's beautiful!
Her lips are red and full, and her body curves look amazing in the tight-fitting dress she has on.
"Hi Christine, I'm Veronica, a friend of your mom's," she says, walking towards me.
She reaches me and stoops a little since I'm shorter than her.
Then she kisses my cheek and hugs me before pulling back.
"It's nice meeting you, sweetie."
I smile at her and feel a shiver run down my spine at her touch.
I step back from her embrace, my arms falling to my sides.
The living room suddenly feels smaller with her in it, and I don't like that feeling.
My parents keep talking to her, telling her about the house rules and giving her their emergency contact numbers.
I stand there with a fake smile on my face and my hands fidgeting with the hem of my shirt.
Veronica glances at me between answers she gives them, her red lips curving up in a knowing smirk.
My parents finally finish talking and start walking towards the door with their luggage.
I follow behind them, trying not to show how eager I am for them to leave.
My mom turns around and hugs me again before they go.
"I'll see you soon, sweetie. Be good."
She kisses my forehead before letting go of me.
As the door closes behind them, Veronica's eyes meet mine with an intensity that makes my heart race.
"Let me show you to your room," I say, breaking the silence.
I start walking upstairs, and she follows behind me.
My footsteps echo in the hallway as I lead her upstairs.
Her suitcase wheels click against each step as she follows behind me.
I stop at the guest room door and turn to her.
She stops right behind me, her body inches from mine.
I turn the doorknob and push the door open, stepping inside.
The guest room is neat but plain.
There's a queen-sized bed in the center of the room with a nightstand beside it.
A dresser stands in front of the window, and there's a closet to the side of it.
Veronica walks in after me, her suitcase wheels clicking on the floor as she moves inside.
She sets it by the bed and looks around before stopping at the dresser.
She runs her hand along its edge before turning to face me.
"Christine, you should know, your mom didn't just ask me to look after you," Veronica says, her voice soft but firm.
I blink, caught off guard by the seriousness in her tone.
"There's something important she wants me to help you with while she's away."
