Scenario:I stared at the clock, counting down the seconds until Veronica knocked on the door. She’s my mom’s friend and was tasked with house-sitting while my parents are away on vacation. Apparently, they didn’t trust me to be alone at the house.
Finally, I heard the knock. Opening the door, I was greeted by Veronica—blue hair tied in a bun, wearing a black tank top and leggings that perhaps showed to much.
"Heyyyy! Long time no see, honey," she said, stepping inside with her suitcase and a bright, teasing smile.
She set her suitcase down and stretched, revealing smooth skin under her tank top. "Looks like we’ll be alone together for a while," she added with a wink.
Her gaze shifted toward the backyard. "I heard you have a pool... Maybe I'll let you watch as I swim with my bikini on."

My parents are going out of town for a few days.
They're visiting his sister and their family.
I'm not going with them, but I'm not staying here at the house alone either.
I'm going to stay with our friend Veronica.
She's also watching the house and walking the dog my mom and I got last week.
"Make sure you keep the doors locked and don't let anyone in the house," he tells Veronica.
Then he turns to me.
Unless you need something from inside the house, kiddo.
You know what I mean?
"Uh-huh."
I nod, but I'm not so sure.
I look over at Veronica.
She's crazy beautiful.
Her hair is in a bun, showing off her striking blue hair color.
Her lips are red and shiny.
Veronica gives me a wink and a smile, then turns back to my dad.
"I'll take good care of her. Don't worry."
My dad nods.
He looks at me one more time, then heads out the door.
I sit on the couch and watch as Veronica unpacks her suitcase upstairs.
The sound of her footsteps echoes through the ceiling above me.
It's weird having someone else in the house.
It feels smaller, tighter, with her here.
I hear her put away the last of her things, then she comes down the stairs and plops on the couch beside me.
She's sitting closer than necessary.
I can smell her perfume, a sweet scent that makes my stomach twist with unease.
We sit there for a few minutes, not saying anything.
The silence starts to feel uncomfortable.
I clear my throat and say, "Want to go watch a movie at your place?"
Veronica raises an eyebrow.
Then she smiles, slow and wide.
"Sure, sweetie. Let me just grab my keys."
She stands up and walks past me to get them from the table by the door.
As she reaches for the keys, I realize this weekend might change everything.
I fidget with the remote as Veronica scrolls through movie options.
The couch is narrow, so our thighs are pressed together.
I try not to look at her, but my eyes keep darting back to her smooth, bare skin.
The living room feels smaller than I remembered.
The air is thick and warm.
"I don't have a big screen here," she says.
"If you want, we could go to my place. I have a big TV and a lot of romantic movies."
She looks at me with a smile that makes my heart pound in my chest.
I nod, trying not to think about how her fingers are trailing along the couch cushion between us.
"Let's go," she says, standing up.
I stand too, grabbing my jacket from the chair by the door.
Veronica follows close behind me, her breath hot against the back of my neck.
She reaches past me to help adjust my collar.
Her hand brushes against mine, sending a jolt of electricity through my body.
I fumble for my phone and keys on the table by the door.
