MidReal Story

Tempted by My Mom’s Friend

Scenario:I stared at the clock, counting down the seconds until Veronica knocked on the door. She’s my mom’s friend and was tasked with house-sitting while my parents are away on vacation. Apparently, they didn’t trust me to be alone at the house. Finally, I heard the knock. Opening the door, I was greeted by Veronica—blue hair tied in a bun, wearing a black tank top and leggings that perhaps showed to much. "Heyyyy! Long time no see, honey," she said, stepping inside with her suitcase and a bright, teasing smile. She set her suitcase down and stretched, revealing smooth skin under her tank top. "Looks like we’ll be alone together for a while," she added with a wink. Her gaze shifted toward the backyard. "I heard you have a pool... Maybe I'll let you watch as I swim with my bikini on."

"Will you please hurry up, Christine?"
My mom called from downstairs.
I grabbed my bag and rushed out of my room.
As I gotdownstairs, I saw my parents already at the door.
"Sorry," I said as I got close to them.
"It's alright dear, we wouldn't want to miss our flight," my dad said with smile.
Mom smiled too and hugged me.
"We would be away for two weeks, so behave yourself and do as Veronica says."
Mom said, turning to my right.
Beside my mom stood Veronica, her striking blue hair in a bun.
My parents had asked her to house sit for them while they're away, since she had nothing doing.
My parents smiled at each other and then bid me farewell before leaving the house.
I turned to look at Veronica.
"Can I ask you something?"
She was sitting on our living room couch, her legs crossed and her leggings stretching tightly around her thighs.
She patted the spot next to her.
"Of course dear, come sit down."
I stood there, shifting from one foot to the other.
"Why did my parents really ask you to stay here?"
I asked, my fingers fidgeting with the hem of my shirt.
Her smile widened as she leaned forward.
"They think you need supervision," she said, then added with a knowing look, "But I think you're old enough to make your own choices."
She got up and walked towards me.
She patted the empty cushion next to her on the couch, her eyes never leaving mine.
I stood there for a while, then my feet carried me towards her.
I lowered myself down on the couch, keeping a little distance between us.
The leather cushion squeaked as I sat down.
Veronica shifted closer to me, her thigh brushing against mine.
She smelled of something floral and sweet, like perfume.
She leaned in closer to me, her fingers reaching out to tuck a loose strand of my hair behind my ear.
I stiffened at her touch but didn't pull away.
"There's something else, isn't there?" I asked, trying to read her expression.
Veronica hesitated for a moment before speaking. "Your parents are worried about the letters you've been receiving."
I felt my heart skip a beat. "They know about those?"
