Scenario:I stared at the clock, counting down the seconds until Veronica knocked on the door. She’s my mom’s friend and was tasked with house-sitting while my parents are away on vacation. Apparently, they didn’t trust me to be alone at the house.
Finally, I heard the knock. Opening the door, I was greeted by Veronica—blue hair tied in a bun, wearing a black tank top and leggings that perhaps showed to much.
"Heyyyy! Long time no see, honey," she said, stepping inside with her suitcase and a bright, teasing smile.
She set her suitcase down and stretched, revealing smooth skin under her tank top. "Looks like we’ll be alone together for a while," she added with a wink.
Her gaze shifted toward the backyard. "I heard you have a pool... Maybe I'll let you watch as I swim with my bikini on."

"See you later, sweetie," my mom said as she gave me a hug.
"Have fun with Veronica."
My dad leaned down to give me a hug of my own before he and my mom slipped out the front door.
Their rencontreed friend, Veronica, stepped forward to take their place.
Veronica was a good friend of theirs, and she had agreed to house sit while they were on their vacation.
"Ready to say goodbye to your parents, Christine?"
Veronica's striking blue hair was pulled back into a bun, and her eyes sparkled with amusement.
"Of course," I said, feeling a flush rise to my cheeks.
I didn't mean to sound so bratty; it just came out that way.
I watched as my parents disappeared down the sidewalk before I turned back to look at Veronica.
"What’s the plan for today?"
I asked her curiously.
Veronica smiled.
"Well, since I don't start working until tomorrow... how about we order some pizza and watch a movie? Just a relaxing day."
"Sounds good to me," I said with a smile.
I followed her into the house, and we spent the rest of the afternoon watching a cheesy rom-com and eating pizza.
After the movie ended, Veronica got up to clean up the pizza boxes.
She came back into the room and sat down next to me on the couch.
This time, she sat closer, and I could feel her leg brushing against mine.
The credits were still rolling on the movie, but neither of us made a move to change it.
Veronica turned to look at me, tucking one leg under herself and leaning back against the couch.
Her fingers traced idle patterns on the cushion between us.
"So," she said, "what do you usually do for fun around here?"
Her tone was casual, but her eyes were intent on mine.
I shifted uncomfortably on the couch, feeling the ticking of the clock echoing in the room.
"Mostly hang out with friends or read," I replied, trying to sound nonchalant.
Veronica nodded, her gaze unwavering. "Have you ever wondered why your parents trust me so much?"
I hesitated, caught off guard by the question. "I mean, they’ve known you forever, right?"
"Forever," Veronica agreed.
"I went to college with your mom. We were roommates, and we got to be very close friends."
Her fingers had moved from the couch to my knee, tracing patterns on my skin.
I tried to shift away, but I was already pressed against the armrest.
"We used to sneak out of the dorms at night and go to parties in town. Wild parties. Your mom was always up for an adventure."
She smiled, her eyes glinting.
Veronica's hand slid higher on my thigh, sending a shiver through me.
I felt a sudden urge to call my parents and tell them about Veronica’s behavior.
I reached for my phone on the coffee table, but before I could grab it, she snatched it from my hand.
"They don’t need to know everything we do," she whispered, tucking my phone into the back pocket of her leggings.
Her face drew closer to mine until I could feel her breath on my cheek.
"I, uh... need to go use the bathroom," I stammered, scrambling up from the couch.
