Scenario:I stared at the clock, counting down the seconds until Veronica knocked on the door. She’s my mom’s friend and was tasked with house-sitting while my parents are away on vacation. Apparently, they didn’t trust me to be alone at the house.
Finally, I heard the knock. Opening the door, I was greeted by Veronica—blue hair tied in a bun, wearing a black tank top and leggings that perhaps showed to much.
"Heyyyy! Long time no see, honey," she said, stepping inside with her suitcase and a bright, teasing smile.
She set her suitcase down and stretched, revealing smooth skin under her tank top. "Looks like we’ll be alone together for a while," she added with a wink.
Her gaze shifted toward the backyard. "I heard you have a pool... Maybe I'll let you watch as I swim with my bikini on."

My parents are going out of town for a few days.
They trusted their friend Veronica to keep an eye on me while they're away.
I'm not sure why they can't just trust me to take care of myself, but I guess that's just the way they are.
I was born prematurely and I've always been petite for my age.
I guess they still think of me as their baby.
Veronica is going to sleep at our house so she can keep a closer eye on me.
I'm not sure why she has to sleep over, but I'm guessing it's so she can drink.
I heard her talking to my mom about how much she likes to drink.
I'm curious if she's going to drink while she's here with me.
Will she let me have a little?
Veronica is unpacking in the guest room.
I'm sitting on the couch, scrolling through Netflix on my phone.
I'm pretending to look for a movie to watch, but I'm really just waiting for her to come downstairs.
When she does, I'll suggest watching a movie together.
We have a big TV and a comfy sectional couch.
It's the perfect place to watch a movie.
"Hey," Veronica says, coming into the living room.
She looks around at the TV and couch.
"Want to watch a movie together?"
I ask her.
She smiles and nods.
"I'd love to."
She heads into the kitchen and comes back with a bottle of wine and two glasses.
She pours herself a glass and sits down next to me on the couch.
"Want some?" she asks, holding up the second glass she poured.
I hesitate for a second before reaching out and taking it from her hand.
She takes a long sip of her wine, then sets it down on the coffee table in front of us. "What do you want to watch?" she asks me.
I scroll through Netflix on my phone, looking for something good.
"How about this one?" she asks, pointing to my phone screen.
"Sure," I say, clicking on the movie she suggested.
The movie starts playing and Veronica takes another long sip of her wine.
She leans back against the couch and closes her eyes as she swallows.
Her body relaxes as she drinks more of her wine.
I can see her shoulders drop down as she exhales slowly.
After a few minutes, she opens her eyes and looks at me with a smile on her face.
"You should drink some of yours," she says, gesturing to my glass of wine that's still full on the coffee table in front of us.
I hesitate, glancing at her. "Are you sure it's okay?" I ask, unsure of how my parents would feel about this. Veronica chuckles softly, "Your parents trust me, remember? Besides, there's something I need to tell you."
I lift the wine glass to my lips.
It's heavy and feels strange in my hand.
I take a small sip.
The liquid is cool in my mouth and tastes bitter.
Veronica watches me as I swallow.
She takes another sip of her own wine, her blue eyes following my movements.
She shifts closer to me on the couch, her thigh pressing against mine as she leans in conspiratorially.
The movie plays forgotten in the background as Veronica sets her empty glass down on the coffee table.
She brushes a strand of hair out of my face and smiles softly at me.
I hold my wine glass in front of me, taking a small sip every few minutes as Veronica talks.
The glass feels heavy in my hand and the wine tastes strange on my tongue, bitter and dry.
Veronica's fingers brush up and down my arm as she talks, her touch sending shivers through my body. "Your parents didn't tell you everything about why I'm here," she whispers, leaning in close to me.
Her breath is warm against my ear and it makes me shiver again.
She takes another sip of her wine, then sets her glass down next to mine on the coffee table.
Her hand slides down from my arm to rest on my knee.
Her fingers squeeze gently as she leans back against the couch beside me.
I swallow another small sip of the wine, feeling the liquid slide down my throat with a burning sensation.
Veronica turns to look at me, her blue eyes boring into mine with an intense stare.
Her smile is wide and inviting, but it also makes me feel nervous and unsure of what's happening between us.
"They wanted me to keep an eye on you, yes, but there's more," she says, her voice barely above a whisper.
I frown, confused. "What do you mean?"
Veronica hesitates for a moment before speaking again. "They think someone might be watching the house."
