MidReal Story

Tempted by My Mom’s Friend

Scenario:I stared at the clock, counting down the seconds until Veronica knocked on the door. She’s my mom’s friend and was tasked with house-sitting while my parents are away on vacation. Apparently, they didn’t trust me to be alone at the house. Finally, I heard the knock. Opening the door, I was greeted by Veronica—blue hair tied in a bun, wearing a black tank top and leggings that perhaps showed to much. "Heyyyy! Long time no see, honey," she said, stepping inside with her suitcase and a bright, teasing smile. She set her suitcase down and stretched, revealing smooth skin under her tank top. "Looks like we’ll be alone together for a while," she added with a wink. Her gaze shifted toward the backyard. "I heard you have a pool... Maybe I'll let you watch as I swim with my bikini on."

I watched as my parents said their goodbyes before getting into the taxi that would take them to the airport.
My heart felt a little heavier with the thought of them being away for two whole weeks, but I knew that I wasn't to be left on my own at nineteen years old.
So, I was left in the care of their friend, Veronica, who was also looking after the house.
"Thanks again, Veronica," I heard my mom, Nicolette, say.
"No need to thank me, dear. Anything for you and Mark," Veronica replied.
My dad waved his hand at them and got into the taxi, followed by my mom.
I waved at them until they drove out of sight, then turned back to go into the house where Veronica was waiting.
She had her striking blue hair up in a bun and a few loose strands framing her face.

She was wearing a black tank top and leggings that showed off her curvy figure.
She had her suitcase by the door, but she had already set her handbag on the coffee table in the living room.
I walked into the living room where she was standing, looking around as if she were trying to remember where everything was.
"Can I get you anything?"
I asked her.
She turned to look at me with a smile on her face.
"No, dear. I'm fine, thanks. But you can show me around the house and tell me where everything is."
I nodded and gestured for her to follow me.
We walked through the house together, starting with the living room where we were standing.
The living room was decorated with cream-colored walls and white furniture, with a large TV on the wall opposite the couch.
Next to the living room was my dad's study, which was decorated with dark wood furniture and a large desk in front of the window.
Veronica looked around before we moved on to the kitchen, which was decorated with white cabinets and a large island in the middle of the room. "Do you need help with anything?"

I asked as we walked through the kitchen.
Veronica chuckled softly and shook her head.
"Not right now. But maybe later."
I nodded, feeling a little awkward standing there in silence.
"So, what do you want to do first?"
Veronica asked as she opened one of the cabinets.
"I don't know," I replied.
Veronica smiled mischievously as she looked at me over her shoulder.
"How about we start with a little secret your parents never told you?"
I blinked, surprised. "What secret?"
Veronica closed the cabinet and turned to face me fully, her eyes gleaming with a mix of excitement and seriousness.

"Come on," she said, walking over to the fireplace and gesturing for me to follow her.
I walked over and stood next to her as she looked up at the painting above the fireplace.
"Your parents have always had a knack for secrets," she murmured, reaching up to touch the frame of the painting.
I watched as she carefully lifted the painting, revealing a small safe embedded in the wall behind it.
My heart raced at the sight of it.
"Want to see what's inside?" she asked, her voice low and inviting.
I hesitated, glancing back at her.
Her expression was unreadable, but there was an undeniable thrill in her eyes.
Slowly, I nodded.
Veronica smiled, her fingers deftly spinning the combination lock.
