Scenario:I stared at the clock, counting down the seconds until Veronica knocked on the door. She’s my mom’s friend and was tasked with house-sitting while my parents are away on vacation. Apparently, they didn’t trust me to be alone at the house.
Finally, I heard the knock. Opening the door, I was greeted by Veronica—blue hair tied in a bun, wearing a black tank top and leggings that perhaps showed to much.
"Heyyyy! Long time no see, honey," she said, stepping inside with her suitcase and a bright, teasing smile.
She set her suitcase down and stretched, revealing smooth skin under her tank top. "Looks like we’ll be alone together for a while," she added with a wink.
Her gaze shifted toward the backyard. "I heard you have a pool... Maybe I'll let you watch as I swim with my bikini on."

My parents are going out of town for a few days.
They're leaving me in the care of their friend Veronica.
I've never met her before, but my mom says she's cool.
I'm not so sure, but I trust my parents' judgment.
They wouldn't leave me with just anyone.
Veronica shows up just as they're about to leave.
She's striking, with blue hair pulled back into a bun.
Her eyes are a shade darker than her hair, almost indigo.
She gives me a seductive smile, and I feel my face flush.
"Christine, this is Veronica. Veronica, this is our Christine."
My mom introduces us.
She smiles and hugs me lightly.
"Nice to meet you, Christine. Thanks for having me stay. I promise I won't get in the way of your schoolwork."
I watch as she hugs my parents, and they hand her a set of keys.
She gives them a wave and watches as they pull out of the driveway.
Once they're gone, she turns to me.
"So, what do you say we order some pizza and watch a movie? It's my treat."
I shrug.
"Sounds okay to me."
We head inside to order some food, and then I show her where the DVD player is.
She picks out a few movies, and we pick one to watch.
As we sit down with some drinks and food, she turns to me.
"So Christine, what do you like to do?"
I shrug.
"I like to swim and read."
She nods.
"Anything else?"
"Not really. I'm pretty boring."
She smiles.
"I doubt that. I bet you're full of surprises."
We sit on the couch with our pizza, and she snuggles up close to me.
Her leg touches mine, and I feel a little self-conscious.
The movie plays in the background, but we're not really paying attention to it.
"So, what do you like to do?"
I ask her.
She laughs.
"Oh, I like to do lots of things. I'm a bit of a thrill-seeker."
She leans in closer, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
"I've gone skydiving, bungee jumping, and even tried my hand at pottery."
I smile.
"That sounds fun. I've never tried anything like that before."
She grins mischievously.
"Well, maybe we can change that. What do you say? Want to try something new tomorrow?"
I nod eagerly.
"Sure thing."
She pulls out her phone and starts flipping through pictures.
"Here's me skydiving last weekend," she says, showing me a photo of her jumping out of a plane.
"And here's me at pottery class."
I take the phone from her and flip through the pictures.
There are photos of her doing all sorts of things—cooking exotic dishes, hiking in the mountains, even surfing. "Wow, you've done a lot of cool things," I say, handing her phone back.
She smiles.
"Yeah, I like to stay busy. But enough about me. What do you want to do tomorrow?"
I shrug.
"I don't know. What did you have in mind?"
She leans in closer, her hand resting on my knee.
"Well, we could go for a hike. Or maybe even try rock climbing."
I nod enthusiastically.
"That sounds like fun."
She smiles and squeezes my knee before standing up and stretching.
"Well then, let's get some sleep so we can be ready for our adventure tomorrow."
I nod and stand up as well, feeling a little shy about being around this beautiful woman who seems so confident and carefree.
The movie ends, and I start to clean up the pizza boxes.
She grabs my wrist and pulls me back onto the couch.
She scrolls through her phone, showing me more photos of her adventures.
"I'm getting tired," I say.
She jumps up and looks around the living room with calculating eyes.
"Let's forget about hiking. We can do something fun right here."
She starts grabbing cushions off the couch and tossing them on the floor.
I watch as she disappears upstairs, returning with an armful of pillows and blankets from the guest room.
She dumps them in a pile and grabs my hand again.
