Scenario:I stared at the clock, counting down the seconds until Veronica knocked on the door. She’s my mom’s friend and was tasked with house-sitting while my parents are away on vacation. Apparently, they didn’t trust me to be alone at the house.
Finally, I heard the knock. Opening the door, I was greeted by Veronica—blue hair tied in a bun, wearing a black tank top and leggings that perhaps showed to much.
"Heyyyy! Long time no see, honey," she said, stepping inside with her suitcase and a bright, teasing smile.
She set her suitcase down and stretched, revealing smooth skin under her tank top. "Looks like we’ll be alone together for a while," she added with a wink.
Her gaze shifted toward the backyard. "I heard you have a pool... Maybe I'll let you watch as I swim with my bikini on."

"See you in two weeks, baby," dad kissed me on the cheek.
"Take care of yourself and be a good girl for Veronica."
"I will, dad," I smiled and waved at them as they drove away.
They're going on a vacation in Hawaii and they will be gone for two weeks.
My mom didn't want to leave me alone in the house, so she got her friend to come and stay with me.
I'm not sure what she's worried about.
I'm eighteen years old and am very capable of taking care of myself.
I watched as they drove further and further away until they disappeared from sight.
I shrugged and turned back to go inside the house.
Veronica was in the living room, reading a magazine.
She looked up at me and smiled seductively.
I stood in the doorway awkwardly, not sure whether to go upstairs or sit down.
Her eyes kept darting up to look at me every few minutes, making me feel very uncomfortable.
She was my mom's age and it felt weird having her looking at me that way.
I shifted my weight from one foot to the other, trying to decide what to do.
"Um... I'm going to go unpack my bag," I mumbled and turned toward the stairs.
As I climbed each step, I could feel her gaze on me, following my every move.
When I got to the top landing, I looked back down.
"You're just like your mother was at your age," Veronica called up, her voice carrying a strange mix of nostalgia and something else I couldn't quite place.
"What do you mean by that?" I asked, pausing on the stairs, curiosity piqued despite my discomfort.
"Oh, she never told you about the summer we spent here together, did she?" Veronica replied with a knowing smile.
I shook my head, retreating to my bedroom as I tried to make sense of Veronica's cryptic comment.
I closed my door behind me, but I could still hear her moving around downstairs.
The sound of her humming and the clinking of dishes filled the air as she tidied up.
Later, I heard the sound of running water, signaling that she was filling up the pool.
After a few minutes, I heard her call up to me from downstairs.
"Hey, Christine. The pool is filled. Want to come down and take a swim?"
I hesitated for a moment before peeking out my window.
Veronica was stretching by the edge of the pool in a tiny black bikini that left very little to the imagination.
She looked up and saw me watching her, then gave me a slow wave.
I felt my cheeks flush as I gripped my curtain tightly.
"Christine, you know your mom and I used to have the best times here," Veronica said, her voice carrying a hint of mischief.
"What kind of times?" I asked, trying to sound casual but feeling a knot of unease in my stomach.
"Let's just say we discovered a few secrets about this place that I'm sure you'd find... enlightening," she replied with a wink.
