Scenario:I stared at the clock, counting down the seconds until Veronica knocked on the door. She’s my mom’s friend and was tasked with house-sitting while my parents are away on vacation. Apparently, they didn’t trust me to be alone at the house.
Finally, I heard the knock. Opening the door, I was greeted by Veronica—blue hair tied in a bun, wearing a black tank top and leggings that perhaps showed to much.
"Heyyyy! Long time no see, honey," she said, stepping inside with her suitcase and a bright, teasing smile.
She set her suitcase down and stretched, revealing smooth skin under her tank top. "Looks like we’ll be alone together for a while," she added with a wink.
Her gaze shifted toward the backyard. "I heard you have a pool... Maybe I'll let you watch as I swim with my bikini on."

"See you in two weeks, baby girl," my mom kissed me on the cheek.
"Take care of yourself and be a good girl for Ms. Veronica," my dad added as he hugged me.
They weredad and mom going on that vacation they had been talking about for months now, and they left me in the care of their friend, Veronica, who was also going to look after their house.
Veronica was a beautiful woman with striking blue hair in a bun, a lot taller than I was, and a seductive way about her.
I had met her for the first time the previous day when they came to introduce her to me.
"Take good care of Christine and our house as well, Veronica," my mom told her.
"Don't worry, I've got this," she replied with a smile and hug.
"I love you both, have a safe trip," I said as I waved at them, watching them get into their car and drive off.
I went inside the house and was heading to my room when Ms. Veronica caught up to me.
"Christine," she called softly and I stopped and turned around to look at her.
"You can call me any time if you need anything or have any questions, okay?" she added.
"Okay," I nodded with a smile at her.
I continued to my room and closed the door behind me, then slid down on the floor with my backpack.
I dropped my backpack on the floor and unzipped it, pulling out my textbooks and notebooks one by one.
Next was my laptop, which I could tell from its weight, then the loose papers from today's classes.
After pulling everything out, I stood up and moved to my desk, where I began arranging them into piles - homework to do, assignments to file away, notes to review.
My phone buzzed with a text from Mom asking if we had arrived safely.
I typed out a quick reply that we had.
I heard Veronica's footsteps in the hallway outside my room, pausing for a moment before continuing on past.
"Christine, can we talk for a minute?" Veronica's voice came from the doorway, gentle yet firm.
"Sure, what's up?" I replied, curious about the sudden seriousness in her tone.
"I need to tell you something important about your parents' trip," she said, stepping inside and closing the door behind her.
I sat cross-legged on the floor, watching as she leaned against the closed door, arms crossed.
She seemed to be thinking for a moment, her gaze drifting to my desk and phone.
Then she pushed off from the door and walked over to my desk, picking up my phone.
She checked the screen before setting it face-down on the desk again.
Veronica turned and walked over to my bed, sitting down and patting the spot beside her.
I hesitated for a moment before standing and joining her on the bed.
She leaned in close, her perfume enveloping me, and placed a hand on my knee.
Her blue hair fell forward as she whispered, "Your parents aren't really going on a trip. They're in danger."
I felt the room spin as her words settled in, altering everything I thought I knew.
