My friend Mia invited me to a swimsuit party. But the moment I arrived, I realized something was off. Everywhere I looked, there were only girls—laughing, chatting, and having fun in the pool. And then I realized—I’m the only guy at the party.
Jamie Carter
the only male guest, friends with Mia, average build with short brown hair, curious and slightly awkward.
Adrianna Blair
one of Mia's closest friends at the party, friends with Mia and some of the other guests, petite with curly red hair, witty and protective.
Mia Thompson
host of the party and Jamie's friend, friends with all the guests, tall with long blonde hair, outgoing and confident.
When I saw the text from Mia about coming over, my first thought was that we were going to have a guys’ night.
I hadn’t seen her in a while, and I was looking forward to hanging out.
We were friends, but I’d never been to her place.
The invitation was vague, but I didn’t think much of it.
When I got there, it was dark and I wasn’t sure if I had the right house.
There were no lights on in front, but I could see some inside.
I was starting to feel a little uneasy and unsure if I should have come over by myself.
The moment she opened the door, I knew something was off.
Mia gave me a big smile and waved me inside.
As soon as I stepped in, the door was shut behind me and I heard locks click.
"Why did you shut the door?"
I asked her.
She just laughed and took my hand, leading me deeper into the house.
It became clear that this wasn’t going to be a guys’ night when I saw all the girls lounging in the living room.
I stopped in the doorway, my feet refusing to move.
Mia tugged on my hand, but I held firm.
The girls sprawled across couches and floor cushions turned to stare at me.
Their conversations died, leaving an awkward silence in the room.
Adrianna was perched on the armrest of a couch, her eyes narrowed as she whispered something to the girl next to her.
I counted at least eight pairs of eyes on me.
Mia released my hand and flopped onto a vacant loveseat, patting the space beside her.
It felt like an invitation to walk into a trap.
Sweat broke out on my forehead as I took a small step backward.
I scanned the room for an escape route, but the girls were all around me.
They started whispering to each other again, and I heard a few giggles.
Mia got up and came over to me.
My back hit the wall, and I had nowhere to go.
She reached out for my arm, but I dodged her touch and stumbled sideways toward the coffee table.
That was when I saw Mia’s phone lying next to a bowl of chips.
The screen was still lit up with notifications.
The girls were distracted, arguing about something in hushed voices.
Adrianna stood up and walked over to Mia, blocking my view of the phone.
I inched closer, my heart pounding in my chest.
I could feel their eyes on me, but they were too engrossed in their conversation to notice what I was doing.
My fingers closed around Mia’s phone while her back was turned.
"Mia, what's going on here?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.
Adrianna glanced at Mia, then back at me, her expression unreadable.
"We needed you here for something important," Mia finally said, her tone serious now, "and it's not what you think."
I kept my grip on the phone hidden behind my back.
The girls formed a loose circle around me, their faces a mix of concern and determination.
Mia took a step forward, her hands raised in a calming gesture, while Adrianna hovered protectively at her shoulder.
I unlocked the phone with Mia’s face recognition, my fingers trembling slightly.
The screen flickered to life, showing a string of urgent messages about "getting him here tonight."
When Mia turned back to me, she reached out again.
This time, I flinched but didn’t run.
She spoke softly, "Jamie, I need you to trust us. We need your help with something serious."
I looked around at the girls, noticing for the first time that they were all looking worried.
I passed her the phone, watching her expression soften in relief.
The other girls relaxed too, their shoulders dropping as they stepped back to give me some space.
Mia checked her messages quickly before setting the phone down on the coffee table.
She gestured for everyone to sit, and they arranged themselves on couches and floor cushions.
I took the offered spot next to Mia, still tense but no longer feeling trapped.
Adrianna remained standing, arms crossed as Mia leaned forward.
"It's about Sarah," she started, her voice low.
"She's been getting these messages..."
My stomach dropped.
The room fell silent as Mia's words hung in the air, and I realized I was now part of something much bigger than myself.
Mia pulled up her own messages, showing me screenshots from Sarah's phone.
The texts were filled with threats and disturbing details about Sarah's daily routine - when she left for work, where she shopped, even what she wore.
Adrianna paced behind us while other girls whispered about similar messages they'd received.
My hands clenched into fists as I saw the sender's number matched a pattern Mia recognized.
They needed a male voice to answer Sarah's phone tonight when the stalker usually called.
