Kara ZorEl
She is an alien from the planet Krypton. She is adventurous, determined, and curious. After her planet's destruction, she was sent to Earth to protect her cousin KalEl. She grew up on Earth, developed a family, and now works as a superhero. Despite her sister Alex's overprotectiveness, Kara values her independence. Her encounter with a mysterious boy reveals her longing for family and love amidst her responsibilities as a superhero.
Alex Danvers
She is Kara ZorEl's sister and a superhero in their family. She is overprotective, caring, and determined. Growing up with Kara, Alex feels responsible for her sister's safety and often interferes in Kara's adventures. Her dedication to family is evident in her willingness to risk herself to find Kara when she goes missing. Her relationship with Kara is complex, marked by both sibling rivalry and deep affection.
Jenna
She is a young girl who appears in Kara ZorEl's vision while wearing glasses similar to Kara's. She seems lonely and isolated, hinting at a troubled home life or social environment that lacks connection. Her presence in Kara's vision sparks an unexpected memory about an old photograph, linking Jenna to a significant moment in KalEl’s history.
It has been 12 years since my planet Krypton was destroyed.
I was 13 when I had to say goodbye to my family and my life as I knew it.
My cousin, Kal-El, and I were very close.
We were more like siblings than cousins.
He was 3 years younger than me, but I never treated him as such.
I took on a big sister role even before we both knew our planet was in serious peril.
When it was time for Kal to leave, I stayed behind with my parents.
I remember my mother taking me by the hands and looking at me with tears in her eyes.
"Kara, you must promise me you will always take care of yourself. No matter what happens or where you go, take care of yourself and never let anyone push you around or take advantage of you."
I promised her I would, and she hugged me tightly before letting me go.
My father took me aside and held me as if it were the last time he would see me.
"Kara, be strong. Always remember who you are and where you come from. Never let anyone or anything stand in your way. You are smart and resourceful. Take care of yourself, my child."
I nodded and kissed him on the cheek before he let me go.
I sit here in my bedroom, alone with my thoughts.
I run my fingers over the intricate patterns of the pendant my mother gave me.
The metal feels warm against my skin, and I can feel it pulsing with a strange energy.
I haven't felt this way since I left Krypton.
Standing up, I walk over to my mirror and look at the reflection of the pendant.
The crystal center catches the light from the lamp next to me, casting a kaleidoscope of colors across the wall.
It reminds me of the crystal spires that towered above our city on Krypton.
I remember Mother fastening this same pendant around my neck the day I left.
She whispered something in Kryptonian that I couldn't quite hear over the hum of the escape pod's engines.
My hand tightens around the pendant as I notice a hairline crack forming along its edge.
I hear footsteps approaching my bedroom door, and I quickly tuck the pendant under my shirt.
The door swings open without a knock, and Alex enters with her hand behind her back.
Before I see it, the familiar nauseous feeling washes over me.
The sickly green glow of Kryptonite seeps between her fingers, casting an eerie light on the floor.
My legs weaken, and I stumble backward, catching myself on the edge of my dresser.
The room spins as she steps closer, revealing the jagged crystal in her hand.
My throat tightens, both from fear and the radiation seeping into my pores.
"Alex, what are you doing?" I manage to whisper, sliding down the wall until I'm seated on the floor.
"Kara, I need you to listen," Alex says urgently, her voice trembling.
"Why are you doing this?" I gasp, struggling to keep my eyes open.
"Because it's the only way to save you from what's coming," she replies, her eyes filled with a mix of fear and determination.
