I’m a little rabbit, so you might be wondering why I never went to play with my friends, or why I always stayed near my burrow.
Unlike my siblings who were as adventurous as monkeys, I was very timid.
My mother always said that I was not a rabbit at all, but a little mouse.
I didn’t care about what she said.
She was just jealous of me because I was the cutest and the most obedient one among her children.
But, I indeed felt that I didn’t have the adventurous gene.
I liked to stay in my burrow and listen to stories that my mother told me.
I would also dream that when I grew up, I would go out and see the world.
However, when I grew up a little bit, I realized that my dream was too far away from me.
I even dared not to go out of my burrow alone in the daytime, let alone to explore the world.
But one night, I couldn’t sleep.
When my mother wasn’t paying attention, I scooted out of the burrow.
The stars in the sky were so bright.
There were no clouds in the sky tonight.
I could see a lot of stars hanging in the sky, and there were also some stars falling from the sky.
It was so beautiful!
At this time, I suddenly heard a footstep behind me.
I turned around and saw a bright red thing.
“Ah!”
I screamed in shock and looked at it nervously.
However, the red thing was not moving, so after a while, I became bolder.
I walked closer and found that it was the fur of a little fox.
It’s so cute!
It has bright orange fur, a bushy tail, and round eyes that twinkled with mischief.
I raised my little paw and waved at him: “Hello!Are you a new friend?”
The little fox looked at me in surprise: “Oh, hello!You are so cute!”
He also raised his little paw and waved at me, “My name is Honghong.”
“I’m Lanlan.” I said to him: “Are you heading back home?”
“Yes!”
Honghong nodded: “I’m going home after playing with friends in the forest.”
“Are we friends now?”
Honghong suddenly asked me: “Lanlan, can we be friends?”
“Yeah!”
I nodded my head vigorously and said to him: “Honghong, we are friends now!”
Honghong chuckled and said: “Well then, we are friends now!”
At this moment, I suddenly heard my mother calling me outside: “Lanlan, where are you?”
Honghong didn’t expect that there would be someone else here at this time when he went back home.
After all, it was already very late.
He immediately got nervous and said to me: “Lanlan, my mother is calling me too.I have to go home now.Bye-bye!”
He turned around and was about to run away.
A mischievous fox like him must have a lot of tricks up his sleeve.
I only thought about it carefully for a while before I ran over and said to him: “Honghong, wait for me!I’ll go home with you.”
Honghong turned around and looked at me happily: “Alright!”
We went through the forest together.
I was still very cautious.
After all, mother had always told us that foxes are very cunning animals.
They are also very fierce.
In a mysterious place like the forest at night, there’s no guarantee that we wouldn’t run into anything dangerous.
However, Honghong seemed very happy.
He was jumping around while humming a little song.
I couldn’t help but ask him: “Honghong, is it really okay for us to be friends?”
I paused for a while before I asked again: “You are not like what mother said —— vicious and cunning?
Honghong was stunned.
After a while, he shook his head and said to me: “Of course not!Lanlan, don’t you believe me?”
I was about to say something when Honghong suddenly laughed and said to me: “Ahaha!I’m just joking with you, Lanlan!”
His laughter was so infectious that I couldn’t help but laugh along with him.
Then he said to me: “Lanlan, don’t worry!I will protect you when we’re playing in the forest.”
I nodded my head with a smile: “Alright!Then let’s be friends!”
Honghong was so happy that he spun around in the air a few times before he ran towards me excitedly and hugged me: “Lanlan, you’re so cute!I’m so happy that we can be friends!”
I was a little embarrassed by him.
However, when I thought about his warm fur and the excitement that he showed on his face just now, I felt very comfortable as well.
After that, Honghong took my little paw and led me to run forward.
We finally arrived at the entrance of the forest.
When we were about to part ways, Honghong suddenly said to me: “Lanlan!How about we play in the forest together tomorrow night?”
Honghong seemed very excited.

I immediately agreed to his request: “Alright!Let’s meet here tomorrow night!”

When the moon was hanging high up in the sky, I saw a little orange figure standing on the other side of the entrance.
The little orange figure was waving its little paws towards me.
I knew that it was Honghong.

When I got closer, I saw that he was wagging his little bushy tail happily: “Haha, Lanlan!
I’ve been waiting for you for a long time!”
I asked with a smile: “Honghong, have you been waiting here for me all along?”
Honghong nodded his head: “Yup!
After you went back home yesterday, I came here again today!”
He then said to me: “Ah!
I can’t wait anymore!
Let’s go play in the forest now!”
Honghong turned around and ran into the forest immediately.
I quickly chased after him.
He suddenly turned his head around and shouted: “Hurry up, Lanlan!
Or I’m going to leave you behind!”
I hastened my steps and followed after him.
The moonlight shone on our bodies and brightened up the entire forest as well.
The night air was filled with the fragrant scent of grass.
The leaves on the trees were rustling as they swayed gently from side to side.
The sound of crickets’ chirping could also be heard all around us.
It was as if they were playing a symphony of music to welcome us.
I looked around with excitement before I suddenly felt a warm figure brushing against my body.
I turned my head around and saw that it was Honghong.
He was running very fast and his little orange tail was swaying gently in the air as well.
When he saw my gaze, he asked with a smile: “Lanlan, do you like my little bushy tail?”
I nodded my head: “Yup!I like it very much!”
After hearing what I said, he was so happy that he started wagging his little tail vigorously like a little puppy.
He then said to me: “Hahaha!
Then you have to run faster!
Or my little tail will be wagging like this forever!”
I replied: “Alright!Let’s go play in the forest now!”
We began running forward together.
Although I was not as fast as him and there were tree roots blocking my way every now and then, but because I was smaller than him, I managed to catch up with him very quickly as well.
