Once they place the unconscious Collin in the machine, it gets him conscious again, but it also turns him into a curious squirrel. Gloria is surprised to see her son as a squirrel. She is also happy to see her son conscious again. But, there's a slight problem. Now that Collin is a squirrel, Jane will no longer be interested in him. To make matters worse, this is a permanent transformation, meaning that if Collin remains a squirrel, no human will talk to him. Collin decides that it's best to find a way to transform himself back into his human state, so that Jane will recognize him. Saying goodbye to his parents, Collin heads over to Liberty Park, where he waits for a person to hopefully find a way to get him into his human state. While waiting, he spots another squirrel, this one is named Natalie. Natalie reveals to Collin that she and her squirrel partner, Santiago, are actually humans, who have been transformed into the same animal due to their sarcomas. Collin tells them that maybe she could help him turn back into his human state, so that Jane will be interested in him again. However, a menacing villain named Raccoon and his assistant, Cardinal, arrive and tell the squirrels that Raccoon does not want them to be in their original states. He says that he prefers the permanent transformation. Natalie tries to defend her new friend by telling Raccoon that they will find a way to be human again, but Raccoon and Cardinal coward and tell her that this is not happening. Saddened that Collin will never be human again, Natalie and Santiago decide that they will join him in helping him be human again. Together, the three go to the house, which is owned by the same two boys that bullied Collin earlier. When Collin tries to talk to them, Harrison and Bentley call Collin a "squirrel boy". From then on, Collin is nicknamed squirrel boy. The boys then shoo the squirrels out of their house, getting the attention of Jane, who immediately recognizes Collin. Jane comes up to Collin, Natalie, and Santiago, and tells them that the only way to get back into a human state is by loving each other. Jane decides to join the squirrels into helping them be back in their human states. While trying to find a way to love each other, a pack of street rats come closing in. They say that they feed on squirrels, and that they're determined to eat them alive. After fending off the street rats who actually work for Raccoon, Collin and Jane team up and chase the boys' getaway truck, which carries Raccoon and Cardinal. Collin fights off Raccoon's Cardinal, and Santiago defects from Raccoon and reveals the truth to the squirrels, resulting in Raccoon being voted out of the park community, which was revealed to be owned by Natalie. Harrison and Bentley, now determined to kill off the squirrels, use the dynamite inside the empty truck to blow up a police barricade at a dam, but the police shoot a tire on the truck that causes it to fall from the dam. It explodes after Collin gets himself and Jane off it, causing the dam to collapse, a flash flood to happen, and everyone falling into the river below. Collin makes it onto a log, but finds out that Raccoon, Harrison, and Bentley survived the explosion. Raccoon tries to kill Collin, but the weight of nuts and water break the log, sending both of them over a waterfall. The squirrels, Jane, and Collin's parents arrive to rescue them, but Collin, in a moment of selflessness, lets himself fall into the waterfall with Raccoon. Now seeing the good side of Collin, the group mourns him as they float home in the river. After Harrison and Bentley's arrest, Natalie, Santiago, Jane, and Collin's parents mourn the loss of Collin. Heartbroken that Collin might be gone, Jane tearfully says that she loves and understands Collin. Then, a miracle happened. Collin is revived and is turned back into a human along with Natalie and Santiago. Gloria asks Collin why he sacrificed for the second time. Collin tells him that he sacrificed himself to defeat Raccoon and Cardinal. The group smiles at Collin, and then they go on to live in Liberty Park, with Maddox and Gloria moving into an apartment to live in Liberty Park. Collin also continues to keep his nickname: Squirrel Boy, and is also given a device by Jane, which turns him into a squirrel whenever he needs the transformation. In a mid-credits scene, Raccoon and Cardinal are revealed to still be alive and are plotting revenge, while stuck on a buoy in the ocean, surrounded by hungry sharks circling them.

In the year 2004, a baby boy was born in the city of Oakton City.
The parents of the baby boy were Maddox and Gloria.
They decided to name him Collin.
When Collin was 5 years old, he got smitten by a cute little girl.
He also got bullied by two boys named Bentley and Harrison.
When Collin was 15 years old, he still got smitten by the cute little girl, who was now 10 years old.
He still got bullied by the same boys.
One day, Collin fell down while running away from the bullies.
He couldn't stand up because his leg was hurting badly.
Gloria took him to the hospital and found out that Collin had sarcoma, a type of cancer that destroys tissues.
The only way to cure it was through a magical machine that would make him better, but it was very expensive.
Maddox and Gloria decided to buy the machine and treat their son with it.
After putting Collin in the machine, Collin suddenly woke up and got out of the machine, but something strange happened.
Collin's hair grew longer and his body became smaller, his clothes ripped off, and his body turned into a squirrel!
Gloria was shocked to see her son as a squirrel, but she was happy to see Collin conscious again.
Collin decided to go to Liberty Park because he knew that no human would talk to him if he stayed in his neighborhood.
Squirrel Boy
I scamper through the park's entrance, my new tail twitching nervously behind me.
The concrete feels rough against my tiny paws as I pause to catch my breath near a wooden bench.
Through the park's iron gates, I see Mom pulling out her phone with trembling hands.
She dials Dad's number, and I can see her pacing back and forth on the sidewalk, her voice filled with worry.
Curiosity gets the best of me, and I inch closer, hiding behind a trash can to listen.
"Collin... he's a squirrel!"
Mom's voice cracks as she tries to explain what happened.
"The machine... it turned him into a squirrel, Maddox. Our boy is a squirrel!"
Minutes later, Dad's truck screeches to a halt at the curb.
He leaps out, his face pale with concern as he rushes to embrace Mom.
Squirrel Boy
From my hiding spot behind the trash can, I notice a dark shadow passing overhead.
Looking up, I see a massive red-tailed hawk circling above the park, its wings spread wide against the afternoon sun.
My new squirrel instincts kick in, and my heart races.
I try to stay perfectly still, pressing myself flat against the cold metal of the trash can.
The hawk dives, its sharp eyes fixed on me.
Its talons extend, reaching for me like deadly claws.
In a panic, I bolt from my hiding spot, darting between trees as fast as my little legs can carry me.
Behind me, I hear Mom and Dad shouting my name, but they're trapped outside the park gates.
The hawk swoops down again, its wings beating fiercely as it chases after me.
I zigzag through the grass, desperate to escape its deadly grasp.
Squirrel Boy
"Collin, over here!" a voice calls out from the branches above.
I glance up to see the cute little girl, now a teenager, perched on a low branch, her eyes wide with recognition.
"It's me, Lily! I know it's you, and I can help!"
