I like wearing a towel.
I don’t mean just after a shower, or at the beach.
I mean everywhere.
And I do mean everywhere.
To the park, to the store, to my backyard… I don’t care.
I love wearing a towel!
My brother-in-law, Kai, always teases me about it.
He says I’m like a walking towel, but I don’t mind because I know he’s just joking around.
Kai is actually really cool.
He’s in some kind of elite military unit, but he never talks about his work so I have no idea what he actually does.
Anyway, he’s always making fun of me about my towel obsession, but he never tries to stop me from wearing them.
I think that’s because he knows how much I love them.
One time, he even bought me a bunch of colorful towels for my birthday!
I was so touched by the thoughtful gift.
It showed that he understood and supported my quirk, even if most people wouldn’t.
So yeah… towels are my thing.
And I don’t plan on changing anytime soon.
"Kai! Why are you here?"
I asked in surprise when I opened the door and saw him standing there in his uniform.
I was still standing in my doorway, clutching my current pink towel close to my body.
The afternoon sun was shining brightly behind him, casting a warm glow over everything.
Kai was holding out a small bundle of blue fabric toward me.
"It’s for you," he said with a smile.
"I saw it at the store and thought of you."
I reached out to touch the soft terrycloth, keeping my own towel tightly wrapped around me.
"Blue is your favorite color, right?"
"Yeah, it is," I replied, feeling a little self-conscious about my current state of dress.
"But you didn’t have to get me anything."
"Nah, it’s no big deal," Kai said with a shrug.
"I just thought you might like it. Plus, I figured you could always use another towel."
I laughed at that, feeling grateful for his thoughtful gesture.
"Thanks, Kai. This really means a lot to me."
I took the blue towel from him and held it up against myself.
It was even softer than I had imagined, and I couldn’t wait to try it out. "So… do you want to come in?" he asked, glancing past me into the house.
"Sure," I said with a nod.
"Come on in."
As he stepped inside, I turned around and headed down the hallway toward my bedroom.
The blue towel was still clutched tightly in my hands as I walked, and I couldn’t help but feel excited about wearing it later.
But then, as we reached the living room, disaster struck.
My elbow accidentally knocked against the corner of the wall, causing my current pink towel to fall to the floor with a soft thud.
"Oh no!" I cried out in surprise, quickly bending down to pick it up before anyone saw me without it on.
Face burning with embarrassment, I fumbled to grab the fallen towel.
My fingers trembled against the soft fabric on the floor, but before I could reach it, Kai moved faster.
He snatched up one corner of the towel and held it out to me like a matador's cape.
"You know, if you're going to make this your signature look, we should invest in some safety pins," he said with a playful grin, keeping his eyes carefully averted from my body.
I snatched the towel from him and quickly wrapped it back around myself.
"Thanks," I muttered, feeling both relieved and grateful that he had saved me from an awkward situation.
My heart was still racing from the close call, but at least I had managed to avoid any major embarrassment.
Kai chuckled softly, his voice dropping to a more serious tone.
"Actually, there's something I need to tell you," he said, glancing around as if checking for eavesdroppers.
"I might be away for a while... work stuff, you know how it is."
