I felt it the moment I stepped off the plane.

There was a difference in the air, something that tickled my senses and told me that I was exactly where I was meant to be.

It was the day before my twenty-first birthday, and I had just moved to Alaska.

I had never been here before.

Hell, I had never even seen snow.

Growing up in California, I had only ever seen rain and sunshine, and that was fine by me.

But now, as I looked around at the white-covered ground and the grey sky, I felt a shiver run down my spine.

It was cold here.

A difference from the warmth of my home state.

But it was more than that.

There was something strange about this place.

Something magical.

And I should know.

I was a witch myself.

But not any kind of witch.

I was a snow witch, something that was only talked about in whispers and campfire stories.

I had always felt different from my mother and my sister, who were both witches that dealt with flowers and sunshine.
