I woke to the sound of light rain pattering against the windowpane.

Rolling over, I reached for my phone to check the time.

Seeing that it was after seven, I got out of bed and headed for the shower.

I had promised my father that I would be there for breakfast before I headed out for a hike with my girlfriend Emily.
