Sundrop
daycare attendant and child caregiver enthusiast, twin brother to Moondrop, red and yellow stripped baggy pants with brown slippers, energetic and playful.
I was having a good day.
I had just finished feeding the twins their lunch, and they were playing quietly with their blocks.
The baby was sleeping peacefully in her crib.
I had just finished washing all the bottles and pacifiers, and I was sitting at the table, folding piles of clean laundry.
Suddenly everything went white.
I closed my eyes, thinking that it was just a flash of light, but when my vision didn't return, I opened them again to find that everything really was white.
Not a single thing around me had any color.
I heard Sundrop call out in surprise.
I turned to look at him, but he too was completely white.
I rose to my feet, concern filling me.
"What's going on?"
Sundrop looked just as confused as I felt.
"I don't know! Is this some kind of trick?"
Sundrop looked down at his hands, then back up at me.
They were both white.
A loud beeping sounded started, echoing all around us.
It grew louder and louder, until I finally had to cover my ears.
It was deafening!
Just when I thought that it couldn't get any louder, everything went black.
When I opened my eyes again, everything was still white.
