MidReal Story

Signal in the Wilderness

The 4G base station that our team built in the remote area of Africa finally started to operate stably.
As the lead engineer, I felt a great sense of relief and accomplishment.
This was the first time that our company had cooperated with the local government in Africa.
The project was not easy.
From the beginning, we encountered many difficulties.
The first challenge we faced was the environment.
The weather there was very extreme.
There were torrential rains, floods, and droughts.
The base station had to be built in such a way that it could withstand these natural disasters.
My friend and colleague, the environmental specialist, Zhang Mei, and I had to work together to come up with a plan.
She analyzed the data of the weather and the soil.
I used this information to design the base station.
We had to make sure that it could withstand strong winds and earthquakes.
After several revisions, we finally came up with a good plan.
Next, Chen Hao, our logistics manager, and I worked together to transport all the equipment to the construction site.
This was not an easy task at all.
The location was very remote.
Signal in the Wilderness
I walked alongside Zhang Mei, her curly hair bouncing with each step as we approached the towering base station.
The air was thick with humidity, a reminder of the recent downpour that had turned the ground into a muddy terrain.
Zhang Mei held a tablet, displaying real-time data on the station's structural integrity.
We circled the perimeter, checking for any signs of damage or weakness.
Chen Hao joined us, his broad shoulders casting a shadow over the equipment as he inspected the foundation.
Together, we tightened bolts and reinforced supports, ensuring the station's resilience against future storms and quakes.
As we worked, the sounds of the African wilderness surrounded us - birds chirping in the nearby trees, the rustling of leaves in the gentle breeze.
The scent of wet earth and ozone hung heavy in the air, a potent reminder of the storm that had just passed.
I wiped the sweat from my forehead, feeling the weight of responsibility on my shoulders.
This base station was more than just a piece of infrastructure - it was a lifeline for the local community.
I glanced up at Zhang Mei, who was intently studying the data on her tablet.
"Everything looks good so far," she said, not looking up.
Signal in the Wilderness
Chen Hao grunted in agreement, his eyes fixed on the foundation.
Suddenly, a loud rumbling noise echoed through the valley, growing louder by the second.
I felt the ground begin to shake beneath my feet.
"What's happening?" Zhang Mei asked, alarm etched on her face.
"It's an earthquake," Chen Hao shouted, his voice barely audible over the growing roar.
Zhang Mei's eyes widened as she clutched her tablet tightly, "But the data didn't predict this!"
I steadied myself against the base station, urgency in my voice, "We need to check if the structure holds—this is the real test."
