I was walking home from the library.
It was a long walk, but I didn’t mind.
I loved being surrounded by trees and the sound of birds.
I had been walking for about twenty minutes when I realized I was lost.
"I’ve never been this way before," I said aloud.
I looked around, hoping I might recognize something, but everything was unfamiliar.
As I walked, the trees grew taller and the path grew narrower until I had to push branches out of my way.
Suddenly, it opened up to a clearing and there in the middle of it stood a teeny tiny man.
He was no bigger than my thumb and had wings like a butterfly.
"Hello," I said, trying not to startle him.
He looked up at me with wide eyes and grinned mischievously.
"Hello pretty girl," he said in a squeaky voice.
"Welcome to my woods."
"Thank you," I said, trying to be friendly.
"I’m a bit lost."
"You are indeed," he said, chuckling to himself.
"Would you like me to show you the way home?"
I nodded eagerly.
"Yes please."
He grinned again and flew off toward the trees.
I followed him, happy to have some help.
As we walked, he chattered on about himself and what a wonderful sprite he was.
I listened politely, not wanting to offend him.
We walked for a while, ducking under low branches and pushing through thick underbrush.
Finally, the sprite stopped and turned to face me.
He grinned again, showing off his pointed teeth.
"Here we are," he said, gesturing to a large tree.
I looked at the tree, confused.
"This isn’t my house," I said.
"No," he said, laughing.
"But it’s where you’ll be staying."
Before I could ask what he meant, he raised his tiny hand and waved it in a circular motion.
I felt a strange tingling sensation start at my toes and work its way up my body.
The trees around me began to grow taller and taller until they were towering above me like skyscrapers.
My clothes became loose, then baggy, then enormous as they fell down around me like a tent collapsing in the wind. I grabbed at my shirt, trying to hold it up, but it was too big and kept falling down over my head.
I stumbled around, trying to get out of the fabric that was now the size of a circus tent.
The sprite laughed above me, his voice echoing off the trees.
I managed to get my head and arms out of the shirt and looked around for something to use as a covering.
The sprite was still laughing, but he didn’t seem to be paying much attention to me.
I grabbed at the hem of the shirt and started to tear strips of fabric off with my tiny hands.
The cotton was soft and easy to rip, and soon I had enough to fashion a makeshift garment.
I wrapped the strips around my body, trying to create something that would cover me.
The fabric draped awkwardly over my small frame, but it was better than nothing.
As I worked, I noticed that the sprite had stopped laughing and was now watching me intently.
His eyes were fixed on my bare skin, and I could feel his gaze like a weight on my body.
A warm flush spread across my cheeks as I realized that he was looking at me in a way that made me uncomfortable.
I quickly wrapped the fabric tighter around myself, trying to cover as much as possible. The sprite watched me for a few more moments before flying off toward the trees again.
I followed him, feeling self-conscious about my new fairy body.
Everything felt different now - the way I moved, the way things looked, even the way the air felt against my skin.
It was all so strange and foreign, and I couldn’t help but wonder what other surprises lay in store for me.
As we walked, I noticed that the fabric of my makeshift garment felt different against my skin than it had before.
Each fiber seemed more pronounced, and the texture sent tingles through my sensitive flesh.
I tried to ignore it at first, thinking it was just another side effect of being turned into a fairy.
But as we continued on our journey, the sensation grew stronger until it became almost unbearable. My breathing quickened and my heart raced as unfamiliar feelings stirred within me.
"Why did you do this to me?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.
"Because you have something we need," the sprite replied, his eyes glinting with a secret.
"What could I possibly have that you want?"
