It was late summer, and I was lucky enough to have Athanasia here with me in Zagreb.
I met Athanasia on the Internet about two years ago, but I never thought that our friendship would turn into something more serious.
We chatted for a while, exchanged photos, and then we decided to meet each other in person.
The first time I met her was when I went to visit her in Greece.
She was from Kalamata, and I spent an unforgettable week there.
Her family welcomed me with open arms, and I was treated like I was part of the family.
I will never forget that experience because it was so nice and warm.
After that, it was my turn to host her.
She came to visit me in Croatia, and we spent another week together exploring Zagreb and its surroundings.
We were getting closer and closer, but we still didn't know if our relationship would work out.
We were still in the phase of long-distance relationship since we were from different countries.
But we were determined to make it work.
And it did!
We kept visiting each other until we finally decided to take our relationship to the next level.
It was a rainy day, and we were staying indoors.
I looked at her and saw her staring out the window at the raindrops falling on the glass.

I walk over to where she stands, my footsteps quiet on the wooden floor.
The rain drums steadily on the windowpane, creating rivulets that snake down the glass.
I position myself beside her, close enough that our shoulders touch but not so close to crowd her space.
She doesn't turn to look at me, but I notice a small smile form on her lips.
We both focus on a particular stream of water making its way down the window, following its path until it joins other droplets at the bottom.

The peaceful moment stretches between us, broken only by the soft patter of rain and distant thunder.
I notice her fingers tracing patterns in the condensation that has formed on the glass.
My heart quickens, anticipating what I'm about to say next.
The rain creates a cozy atmosphere, making my apartment feel even more like a home with her in it.
I turn away from the window and walk to the kitchen.
When I return, I carry two cups of steaming Greek coffee, our morning ritual whenever we're together.
I hand one cup to her, and she takes it gratefully, her smile widening slightly.
We sip our coffee in comfortable silence, watching the rain create its own rhythm outside.
As I look around my apartment, I realize how easily Athanasia has become a part of it.
Her books sit on my shelf, her favorite mug is in my cabinet, and her laughter echoes off my walls.
It's as if she's always been here, and the thought fills me with a sense of contentment.

She catches me staring at her and raises an eyebrow questioningly. I set my cup down on the table, my hands trembling slightly as I fidget with the hem of my shirt.
I fidget with my shirt collar, feeling a little exposed under her gaze.
The rain drums steadily against the windows as she sets her coffee cup down and takes a step closer to me.
Her scent fills the air between us—jasmine perfume mixed with the faint hint of her morning shampoo.
My apartment feels different with her in it—warmer, more alive.
The morning light catches the silver necklace I gave her last Christmas, making it glint against her skin.
Sestre i bratovci
I open my mouth to speak, but the words get stuck in my throat.
She notices my nervousness and reaches out, her fingers brushing lightly against my arm.
