"Ma'am, your breakfast!"

A voice loud enough to stir me up called out.

I opened my eyes and sat up immediately.

It wasn't the voice that got me excited, it was the fact that I was able to open my eyes and see what was going on around me.

"What? I can see!"

I gasped, looking around.

"You can see, ma'am?"

The housemaid's voice sounded excited, but I couldn't see her as I was still getting used to my new ability to see.

I had been blind for years and it was surprising to see that I could actually see.

"I can see!"

I repeated, looking around and trying to make out where everything was.
