Emily Carter

The party was in full swing, the music was loud, and the drinks were flowing.
I sat on the couch with a group of my friends, laughing and joking around.
We were all having a good time, but I couldnāt help but feel a little bored.
It was the same thing every weekend, and I was getting tired of it.
I wanted something new, something exciting to happen.
I just didnāt know what that would be.
"Letās play 7 Minutes in Heaven!" one of my friends yelled over the music.
Everyone cheered and quickly paired off into couples.
I rolled my eyes.
Great, another boring game.
Sarah, my best friend since middle school, nudged me with a wicked grin on her face.
"Come on, Emily, itāll be fun," she said, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
I sighed but nodded.
"Fine, Iāll play," I said, trying to muster some enthusiasm.
Sarah clapped her hands and looked around the room.
"Alright, Emily, youāre with... Jason!" she announced loudly.
My heart skipped a beat.
Jason was standing by the snack table, looking as surprised as I felt.
He was tall, with messy brown hair and a shy smile that always made my stomach flutter.
I glanced at Sarah, who winked at me knowingly.
She knew about my secret crush on Jason.
But what I didnāt know was that he had one on me too.
Jason walked over, his hands shoved in his pockets.
"Ready?" he asked, his voice a little shaky.
I nodded, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves.
We made our way to the closet, the dim light casting shadows on the walls.
Once inside, the door closed behind us with a soft click.
The space was small and cramped, filled with the scent of old coats and mothballs.
We stood there in awkward silence for a moment.
I could hear my own heartbeat pounding in my ears.
"So..." Jason began, breaking the silence.
"I... uh... Iāve been meaning to tell you something."
I looked up at him, curiosity piqued.
"What is it?" I asked softly.
He took a deep breath, his eyes locking onto mine.
"I like you, Emily. A lot. Iāve liked you for a long time."
My mind raced as I processed his words.
Jason liked me?
The same Jason who Iād had a crush on for years?
"I... I donāt know what to say," I stammered.
He smiled nervously.
"You donāt have to say anything. I just wanted you to know."
Before I could think too much about it, he leaned in and kissed me gently on the lips.
It was soft and hesitant but filled with emotion.
I felt a rush of warmth spread through me as I kissed him back.
The moment seemed to stretch on forever until the timer went off with a loud buzz.
We pulled away quickly, both of us blushing furiously.
The door swung open and we stepped out into the bright light of the living room.
Our friends were waiting for us with teasing grins and knowing looks.
"How was it?" Sarah asked, winking at me again.
I shrugged nonchalantly.
"It was fine," I said, trying to hide my smile.
Jason and I exchanged a glance that spoke volumes more than words ever could.
As the game continued around us, my mind raced with new possibilities.
What did this mean for our friendship?
Could we be more than just friends?
