"Thank you Daddy."
She turned her head, looking over her shoulder.
I froze.
The voice was so familiar, yet at the same time it was different.
It was a softer version, a more innocent version of the voice I knew.
I took a step back, trying to get a better look at the little girl who was talking to her father.
My father.
Standing right in front of me, with his back to me, was my dad.
John Carter.
I couldn't believe it.
Here he was, in the very place I had been sent to investigate.
And here was a little girl calling him Daddy.
I didn't have any siblings; at least not any that I knew of.
This had to be some kind of mistake.
Yet deep down, I knew it wasn't.
I knew this was real, and it was scaring the hell out of me.
The little girl turned back around, facing forward once again.
She then started to climb into the car, by herself.
My father turned around, facing me.
He still hadn't seen me standing here yet.
He closed the trunk, and then walked over to the driver side of the car.
