Trapped in a hotel room with my enemy for a week, we have to make do with a single bed.
Samantha
She is a determined and resourceful woman dealing with an unexpected situation. She is pragmatic, resilient, and independent. Samantha finds herself stuck in a hotel room with her former fiancé, Tom, after a storm forces them to take refuge. The lack of space and memories of past heartbreak lead to tension, but she attempts to maintain civility and adapt to their limited surroundings.
Ben
He is a friendly and convenient presence in the hotel scenario. He is cheerful, accommodating, and relaxed. Ben accidentally locks himself out of the room during a power outage and later shares the room with Samantha and Tom. His presence brings some levity, and he helps create a slightly more relaxed atmosphere by offering to take turns standing to use the bathroom, showing his willingness to cooperate and support others in difficult circumstances.
Tom
He is a thoughtful and apologetic man grappling with his feelings. He is introspective, regretful, and caring. Tom collides with Samantha in the rain, and they are forced to find shelter together. Memories of their past engagement haunt them, leading to an awkward atmosphere. Despite the awkwardness, he shows concern for Samantha's wellbeing and offers his jacket to keep her warm, indicating a lingering sense of responsibility and compassion.
I hate him.
He’s my enemy and I’ll never forgive him.
I have to make the best of this situation.
We’re stuck in a tiny hotel room together for a whole week.
The bed is small.
There’s only one way we’re going to fit.
I have to take the high road and be civil.
But he’s so handsome!
And sweet.
And apologetic?
I don’t want to like him, but I do.
This is so confusing!
One minute he’s my fiancé, the next he’s my enemy, and now… I don’t know what he is.
Then there are the kisses.
Sweet, gentle kisses.
Passionate, all-consuming kisses.
Kisses that leave me breathless and wanting more.
What is he doing to me?
And what am I going to do with him?
Samantha
"Shit!"
I say as I slam my hand on the steering wheel.
Rain pounds on my car, making it hard to see, and my wipers aren’t helping much.
A figure steps out in front of me, and I jerk the wheel to avoid hitting him.
My tires screech on the wet pavement as I swerve into the other lane.
Through the rain-streaked windshield, I grip the wheel tightly, my heart still racing from the near collision.
The pounding rain drowns out most sounds, but I hear his knuckles rap against my window.
My hands shake as I fumble for the window control.
The silhouette is familiar, and it’s not hard to guess who it is.
Of course it’s him.
I hesitate, my finger hovering over the button, remembering how our last encounter ended six months ago.
Another tap, this time more insistent.
I can see water dripping off his hair and his shirt is already soaked through.
I press the button, watching as the window slowly descends, letting in cold air and rain.
I grip the wheel tighter, watching him.
His white shirt clings to his chest, reminding me of mornings when he’d return from his runs.
Water drips from his dark hair onto his face - that face I’d sworn never to look at again.
He stands there, hands in his pockets, hesitating.
The rain pounds harder on my car roof.
Lightning flashes, illuminating the empty street.
My fingers hover over the door lock.
The rational part of my brain screams at me to drive away, but I can’t leave him in this storm.
My fingers hover over the door lock as thunder crashes overhead.
The rhythmic pounding of rain drowns out my racing thoughts.
He stands there shivering, his shoulders hunched against the downpour, water streaming from his hair onto his face.
His eyes meet mine through the glass - those same warm brown eyes that used to look at me with such love.
The storm intensifies, and a fallen branch scrapes against my car.
My resolve crumbles as another lightning bolt illuminates his desperate expression.
Despite everything he put me through, I can’t leave him out here to freeze.
