The crowd chanting my name as I walk up the stage is a great feeling.
Especially when you’re used to hearing nothing but your parents yelling at you.
"Get a job! Get a job!"
They stopped yelling when I started making more money than them.
My mom still asks me to take out the trash though.
As I get ready to perform my set, I look over at Maria, my manager, and the only person who ever believed in me.
She’s standing off to the side with a clipboard, giving me my usual pre-show pep talk.
She’s giving me last minute instructions and making sure everything is perfect.
"Remember Johnny, start with your new single and then go into ‘Money, Power, Freedom’. The crowd is going to love it."
She gives me a thumbs up and then turns to the crowd.
"Put your hands together for Angolan’s hottest new rapper, Johnny Berry!"
The crowd erupts into cheers as I grab the mic.
I’m six feet tall with dreadlocks and the charisma of a rock star.
I start bobbing my head as I come out on stage.
"Hello Luanda," I say to the crowd of cheering fans.
