It was my last day of being pregnant; I could not wait until I had my twins born so I could walk again and have my body back.
I was visiting my sister-in-law on Kamino to have the twins born, as it was easier to have them there in case something happened and I needed to have them early.
My husband, Anakin Skywalker, was a Jedi Knight, and it would be easier for him to get to Kamino if something happened, rather than if I was on Coruscant.
"Anakin, I am so glad we decided to have the twins here; it has been much easier on me," I said as I looked at my husband.
"I know, but I wish you would have had them on Naboo; that is where they should have been born," Anakin said as he looked at me.
"I know, but it was just easier to have them here," I said again.
"Okay, but after they are born, we are going back to our home," Anakin said as he looked at me.
"I know we are; I am just glad that we decided to have them here," I said again.
I was glad that we decided to have the twins here; it was much easier on me than if I would have had them on Naboo or Coruscant.
I was sitting in the living room on the couch that was curved around a wall, and Anakin was pacing back and forth near the window that overlooked the ocean.
Kamino was an ocean planet, and there was only one city on the planet.
The comlink that was on the coffee table went off, and Anakin walked over to it.
"Anakin here," he said into it.
"Anakin, we have a situation on Coruscant," we heard Mace Windu say through the comlink.
"What is happening?" he asked as he looked at me.
"The Temple is under attack," he said through the comlink.
"I am on my way," Anakin said before he turned it off and grabbed his lightsaber off of the coffee table.
I tried to get up from the couch but found it hard to do with my swollen belly. "What's wrong?"
I asked him as he put his lightsaber in his holster.
"The Temple is under attack; I have to go," Anakin said as he walked over to me and kissed me on the forehead.
"I will be back before you know it."
"The babies could come any moment," I said as I reached for his hand.
"I know, but the Jedi need me right now," Anakin replied, his voice tense with urgency.
"Anakin, please promise you'll be back in time," I pleaded, my eyes searching his for reassurance.
"I promise, Padmé," he said softly, squeezing my hand before rushing out the door.
I shifted uncomfortably on the couch, my swollen belly making every movement a challenge.
The glass windows showcased the Kamino sky, which was darkening by the minute.
Thick clouds gathered ominously, and a distant rumble caught my attention.
I glanced towards the window and noticed that the usually calm waters below were beginning to churn and foam.
Suddenly, the first raindrops hit the glass with an unusual force, as if they were trying to shatter the barrier between me and the storm outside.
The entire structure of our home groaned as the wind began to batter against it, causing the medical droids in the corner to wobble unsteadily.
I grabbed onto the armrest of the couch, trying to pull myself up, but another violent shake sent me tumbling back onto the cushions.
A decorative vase in the corner crashed to the floor, shattering into a hundred pieces.
