I died.
There was no light, no tunnel, no heaven or hell.
Just darkness and nothingness.
Then a flash of blue light, and I felt myself reforming.
When the light faded, I opened my eyes.
The sky above me was a brilliant shade of blue I had never seen before.
The grass beneath my hands was greener than anything I could remember.
I tried to sit up, but my body ached.
My muscles were stiff, my head pounded, and I felt like I could drink an entire lake.
As I sat up, I saw that my hands were clawed.
Not razor sharp, but more than enough to dig into the earth or tear flesh if needed.
My feet were similar, though larger.
Reborn As A Bokoblin
I pushed against the ground, trying to stand.
My legs wobbled beneath me, muscles straining under a weight they weren't familiar with.
The world spun for a moment, and I spread my arms out to the sides to regain my balance.
Each step was awkward.
My feet were larger, my center of gravity different.
I stumbled and grabbed onto a nearby tree trunk for support.
My claws scraped against the rough bark, and I dug them in deeper.
Testing my strength, I dug all four into the wood at once, leaving four parallel grooves behind.
It felt strange, but good in some way I couldn't quite explain.
I released the tree and took three experimental steps forward.
Reborn As A Bokoblin
My legs were still shaky, but I was getting the hang of it.
I gripped the trunk of another tree and looked around.
I could see a glint of water through the leaves and branches.
It wasn't much, but it was enough to guide me.
My legs still shook with each step, but I kept moving forward, pushing between bushes and over fallen branches.
The undergrowth scratched against my skin, which was rougher than before.
I gripped low branches to steady myself as I walked, the bark crumbling beneath my claws.
The sound of trickling water grew louder, and twenty paces ahead, a small clearing opened up.
In the center of the clearing was a still pond surrounded by smooth stones.
I leaned over the water's edge and saw a reflection that was no longer my own.
