I scanned through it quickly, noticing that it was a notification about the latest board meeting for Weber Corp.
I owned 49% of the company's shares, but I had no idea what this had to do with me.
"Look at the bottom," Julia said as she scrolled down on her phone.
I looked at the bottom of the email and saw that there was a link to a news article.
The title read: "Weber Corp. Sold Out: Shane Weber Now Owns Controlling Shares."
"What is this?"
Julia asked as she looked up at me with tears in her eyes.
Her hands shook as she read the article out loud to me. "Shane Weber has just purchased 2% more of Weber Corp.'s shares, giving him 51% control over the company. This means that he now owns more shares than any other individual or family member."
She looked up at me again, this time with anger in her eyes.
"You're behind this, aren't you? You're trying to take over our family business!"
I didn't say anything, but I couldn't help but smile at her reaction.
"This is why you were invited here today, isn't it? This is what this 'special occasion' is all about!"
She lunged forward and tried to grab my collar, but I stepped aside before she could reach me.
As she stumbled forward, I noticed a figure walking through the doorway of the study.
It was James Chen, my old friend from the orphanage.
He was now a successful corporate lawyer and had been helping me with my plan to take down the Weber family.
He walked into the room carrying a thick folder full of documents.
Julia turned around and saw him standing there.
