I sat at the bar with my drink in front of me.
I was only having one because I wasn't a heavy drinker and I wanted to be able to drive myself home.
Plus I was a vampire and it took a lot to get me drunk.
I looked around the bar at all the people.
There were a few werewolves, wizards and witches, but mostly vampires.
It was a vampire bar so that made sense.
I looked back down at my drink and started playing with the straw.
I was so bored, I didn't even want to drink anymore.
I wanted to go home and sleep.
I looked up when someone sat down next to me.
He looked like he was in his mid twenties.
He had dirty blonde hair and his eyes were hazel, but had blue and green in them as well.

I ignore the man and continue playing with my straw, lost in my thoughts.
The bar's chatter fades into the background as I mull over my situation.
The pregnancy weighs heavily on my mind, a secret I carry alone.
Suddenly, the man speaks, his voice cutting through my reverie.
"Dakoda, right?" he asks, his tone familiar yet cautious.
I glance up, meeting Jessie's intense gaze.
My heart skips a beat; he's found me.
His presence is both comforting and unsettling.
He leans closer, his voice low.
"We need to talk."
I nod slowly, knowing this conversation can't be avoided.
The dim lighting of the bar seems to grow even darker, as if the shadows themselves are closing in on us.

Jessie's eyes bore into mine, searching for something – answers, perhaps, or a glimmer of truth.
I can smell the faint scent of werewolf on him, mixed with the sweet aroma of magic.
It's a potent combination that makes my senses tingle.
I take a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart.
"What do you want to talk about?" I ask, my voice barely above a whisper.
Jessie's gaze never wavers, his eyes locked onto mine like a predator sensing its prey.
"I think you know," he says, his voice low and husky.
The air between us crackles with tension as I realize he's not just talking about our past or our complicated relationship – he's talking about the secret I've been keeping from him.
The secret that's growing inside me, a tiny but undeniable presence that changes everything.
I feel a shiver run down my spine as Jessie's eyes narrow, his nostrils flaring slightly as he takes in my scent.
I brace myself, knowing there's no turning back now.

I take a deep breath, feeling the weight of Jessie's gaze. The dim light casts shadows across his face, highlighting the determination in his eyes.
"Jessie," I begin, my voice barely above a whisper, "I'm pregnant."
His expression shifts from curiosity to shock, his mouth opening slightly as if to speak but no words come out.
I watch him closely, noting the flicker of emotions—surprise, confusion, and something else I can't quite place.
He leans back, running a hand through his dirty blonde hair, eyes locked onto mine.
"How long?" he finally asks, voice steady yet tinged with disbelief.
I hesitate, unsure how much to reveal. The silence between us grows thick, like a palpable mist that refuses to dissipate.
"A month," I reply, my voice still barely audible. "I found out a month ago."
Jessie's eyes narrow, his gaze piercing as he processes this information.
The air is heavy with tension, the only sound the soft hum of the bar's music and the distant chatter of patrons.
Suddenly, Jessie's chair scrapes against the floor as he pushes it back, his movements swift and deliberate.
He rises to his feet, towering over me with an intensity that makes my heart race.

"We need to talk about this," he says, his voice low and commanding. "Now."
Without waiting for my response, he turns and strides towards the exit, expecting me to follow.
I hesitate for a moment, my mind racing with the implications of this conversation.
But I know I can't avoid it any longer. With a deep breath, I push my chair back and stand up, my eyes fixed on Jessie's retreating figure.

I step outside, the cool night air a stark contrast to the stifling bar. The neon signs of the surrounding buildings cast a gaudy glow over the sidewalk, making Jessie's tense posture all the more striking. He stands a few paces ahead, his back rigid and shoulders squared, as if bracing himself for impact. I approach cautiously, aware of the gravity of our conversation.
The distant sounds of the city – car horns, laughter, and music – echo around us, a jarring reminder of the world beyond our little bubble of tension. I can feel the weight of Jessie's gaze, even before he turns to face me. His eyes search mine for answers I'm not ready to give.
"Why didn't you tell me sooner?" he asks, his voice low but firm, like a gentle breeze that still carries a hint of storm.
I hesitate, words caught in my throat like a physical obstruction. My heart pounds in my chest, threatening to burst free from its confines. "I was scared," I admit finally, the words tumbling out in a rush.
Jessie's expression softens slightly, a mix of understanding and frustration etched on his face. His eyes seem to bore into mine, as if searching for the truth behind my words. We stand in silence, the only sound the distant hum of the city. The air is heavy with unspoken emotions, like a palpable mist that refuses to dissipate.
Jessie takes a deep breath, his chest expanding with the effort. He reaches for my hand, his fingers brushing against mine with a gentle touch. I feel a jolt of electricity at the contact, my senses heightened as if anticipating a spark.
Suddenly, a loud shout erupts from the alleyway to our left, followed by the sound of scuffling footsteps. Jessie's head snaps towards the noise, his eyes narrowing into slits. His grip on my hand tightens, as if preparing for battle.
"What's going on?" I ask, my voice barely above a whisper, as we both turn to face the commotion.
The shadows shift, revealing a figure cloaked in darkness, eyes glowing with an unnatural light.
