I was running late for my math class when the alarm sounded.
I rolled my eyes and looked up at the ceiling.
Another drill.
I had just done one last week.
I sighed and looked around, trying to find the nearest classroom.
I knew I couldn't be more than a few feet away, but I still couldn't see the door.
Just as I was about to walk in the direction I thought I'd come from, a hand grabbed my arm and pulled me into a small closet.
I squeaked in surprise before I saw who it was and his face relaxed.
"Jason."
He looked down at me with his blue eyes and messy black hair.
"What are you doing here? I thought you were supposed to be in math."
"I am."
I tried to push past him, but he held my arm.
"Not yet. It's a lockdown. Remember?"
He smiled and leaned back against the shelves.
I looked around at the small space and saw that it was mostly filled with cleaning supplies, but there were also boxes of old books and random classroom decorations shoved in there as well as a few broken chairs.
A red, furry puppet sat on one of the shelves, staring at me with exaggerated pink lips and an orange nose.
"Great. Just what I wanted. To be stuck in a closet with all this crap."
Jason laughed and released my arm.
