I woke up to the sound of dripping water somewhere in the distance.
My head was pounding, and I was vaguely aware of the fact that I wasn’t in my bed.
It took me a few moments to realize where I actually was, and when I did, I wasn’t exactly sure how I got there.
The last thing I remembered was walking through the woods after my therapy session with Dr. Beth.
I had been doing that for months now.
I was able to walk on my own, thanks to the advanced prosthetic leg that Ratchet had given me, but I was still getting used to it.
Sometimes I got so tired that I would fall, and now I wasn’t sure if that was what happened or if something else did.
I tried to sit up, but my head started pounding even more.
I reached up and held my head in my hands, trying to make it stop.
"Hello?"
I called out, not sure if anyone had even heard me fall into the cave.
I looked around and saw nothing but rocks and darkness.
There was a small opening at the top of the cave, but it was too high for me to reach.
I strained my ears, trying to hear anything other than the sound of the water dripping.
I had been in the military for a while before I lost my leg, and I had been trained to listen for anything out of the ordinary.
I took a deep breath and steadied myself against the wall of the cave.
My prosthetic leg creaked a little bit as I shifted my weight, but it was still holding up well.
I heard something else then, something that sounded like scratching.
It was coming from deeper in the cave, and it sounded like someone was moving around.
I held perfectly still, trying to figure out where it was coming from.
The scratching stopped for a moment, and then I heard it again.
This time it sounded closer, and I could tell that whatever was making the noise was moving quickly.
I tried to stay calm, but my heart started racing as I realized that I might not be alone in the cave. The scratching stopped again, and this time there was silence.
I counted to ten slowly in my head, waiting to see if I would hear anything else.
When I got to ten, I took a deep breath and called out again.
"Hello? Is anyone there?"
There was no answer, but I heard the scratching again.
This time it sounded like it was right next to me.
I spun around, trying to see what was making the noise, but there was nothing there.
The scratching stopped again, and this time there was complete silence.
I stood there for a few moments, waiting to see if I would hear anything else.
When I didn’t hear anything, I slowly turned around and started walking towards the opening of the cave.
As soon as I took a step forward, I heard something move behind me.
It sounded big, and it sounded angry. "Hello?"
I called out again, hoping that whoever or whatever was in the cave with me would respond.
There was no answer, but I could hear heavy breathing coming from somewhere in front of me.
It sounded like whatever it was had stopped moving and was just standing there watching me.
I took another step forward, trying not to make any sudden movements that might scare whatever it was away.
The breathing got louder, and I could tell that whatever it was had moved closer to me.
I reached down and grabbed a rock off of the ground, holding it tightly in my hand in case whatever it was decided to attack me.
The breathing got even louder then, and I could feel something watching me from just out of sight.
"Who's there?" a voice finally echoed, low and gravelly, breaking the tense silence.
"I could ask you the same thing," I replied, trying to keep my voice steady despite the fear clawing at my insides.
"You're not supposed to be here," the voice continued, a hint of urgency now tinged with something that sounded almost like concern.
Keeping the rock gripped tightly in my hand, I shifted my weight to face the direction of the voice.
My prosthetic leg scraped against the rough cave floor, a sound that echoed in the stillness.
The breathing grew heavier, and I could sense whatever it was moving closer.
Suddenly, a massive shape emerged from the darkness, its eyes glowing like yellow lanterns in the dim light.
I held my breath as the creature came into view, its body unlike anything I had ever seen before.
It was like a dragon, but its scales glistened with a metallic sheen, and its wings were folded against its back.
Despite its size and imposing presence, it didn’t attack me.
Instead, it lowered its head to my level and studied me intently.
"You were brought here," it rumbled, its voice vibrating through the air like thunder.
"By those who wish to use you against the Autobots."
The creature’s tail swept across the ground behind it, causing small rocks and debris to scatter.
As it moved, I caught sight of claw marks etched into the cave walls, along with dried energon stains that glowed faintly in the dim light.
My stomach tightened as I realized that these were Decepticon symbols carved into the rock. "They will return soon," the creature continued, its voice filled with a warning that sent shivers down my spine.
I knew then that my escape was not just a matter of survival, but a race against time.
