We caught a female spy and started to interrogate her
Ethan Thompson
calculating, and intense. Ethan's past in Special Forces and his lack of emotion towards his captives reveal his hardness. His cold demeanor often catches his colleagues off guard, but he achieves results in interrogations. Despite his harsh exterior, he struggles with the loss of a loved one and displays moments of vulnerability. His leadership in interrogations is unwavering, though he faces internal conflicts.
Alex Chen
nervous, and impressionable. Recently joined from a top university program in psychology, she is assigned to work with Ethan and Liam. Alex looks up to her colleagues, seeking guidance and experience in the field. Her innocence sometimes leads to awkward moments, but she learns quickly from her mentors while navigating her role in the agency.
Liam Chandler
humorous, and supportive. Liam often acts as a balance to Ethan's seriousness, injecting lightness into tense situations with his humor. He accompanies Ethan during interrogations, standing by his side both physically and emotionally. His ability to find humor even in difficult moments showcases his comedic relief and strengthens the camaraderie between him and Ethan.
"Okay, are we all ready? Liam, Ryder, Alex, you all have jobs to do here. Liam, Ryder, the questioning is still on me and Liam, but we could use your expertise. Alex, this is all new to you, so just observe and learn. Ready?"
I looked around at my team in the small room in one of the CIA’s many secret facilities around the world.
I had no doubt that this was going to be hard for our new recruit Alex to watch.
She had just come out of one of the top university programs in psychology and was assigned to work with Liam and me while she learned the ropes.
This was her first major operation, and I knew that she was both excited and nervous to be there.
I looked over at her as she stood against the back wall with her notebook and pen in hand.
She held a big smile on her face as she bounced up and down like a jackrabbit ready to spring into action at any moment.
Her innocence was almost painful because I knew that once she got her first taste of blood, it changed everything about a person.
I motioned for Liam to bring the spy in, and he nodded and got up.
He walked over to the door and knocked twice, then waited until he heard the knock on the other side.
The door opened, and a guard stood there with another man behind him.
The guard stepped out of the way as Liam motioned for him to bring the spy in.
The spy was a female, which was not what I had expected, but I was not going to let it throw me off.
She was wearing standard prison garb: a blue shirt and blue pants with no shoes or socks.
Her wrists were bound behind her back with zip ties.
She had long blonde hair that fell down her back, but it was a mess.
She looked around the room as she entered, and her eyes settled on Alex for a moment before she looked away.
Liam guided her to the metal chair that was bolted to the floor in front of the table that I sat at, and he motioned for her to sit down. She did as she was told and sat down in the chair.
I could see her testing the chair by wiggling in it.
She didn’t look too comfortable sitting in it with her wrists bound behind her back.
Her breathing became heavier as she looked at each of us, one by one.
When she got to me, I could see the fear flash across her eyes before she masked it with anger again.
She turned back around and looked at Alex once more before settling on looking straight ahead at me.
I got up from my chair and walked over to stand right in front of her so she couldn’t see Alex anymore.
She looked up at me through her eyelashes as I stood there staring down at her.
The fluorescent lights above us cast harsh shadows on our faces, but I knew that mine looked worse than hers did.
"Why do you keep looking at her?" I asked, nodding towards Alex.
The spy smirked, her voice dripping with defiance. "Because she reminds me of someone I used to know—someone who thought they could change the world."
Alex shifted uncomfortably, her eyes widening as if she recognized something in the spy's gaze.
I walked over to my chair and sat down, the metal legs scraping against the concrete floor.
The spy flinched at the sound but kept her eyes locked on me, her glare defiant.
Behind me, I could hear Alex's pen scratching against paper as she documented every detail of this interrogation.
Liam stood next to me, shifting his weight from one foot to the other, his eyes fixed on the spy.
Ryder leaned against the wall in the corner, his arms crossed over his chest as he watched her.
I placed my hands on the table in front of me, my fingers spread wide.
Lowering my voice to a whisper, I leaned forward, my face inches from hers.
"The person Alex reminds you of—who were they?" The spy's jaw clenched as she looked past me again to Alex.
But Ryder stepped forward, blocking her view.
Her shoulders slumped slightly as she looked back at me, and her voice cracked as she whispered, "My sister."
