“Are you okay?”
he asks, and I realize I’ve been frowning.
I force a smile.
“I’m fine.”
His frown deepens.
“This is a lot, isn’t it?”
I nod, relief flooding me because he understands.
He always understands.
But before he can say anything else, we reach the bar, and I’m distracted by the bartender, who is pouring champagne into crystal flutes.
I’m not much of a drinker, but I take a glass anyway, just because it’s so pretty.
My heart is racing, and my mind is blank as I follow Ethan through the crowd.
I wish he would hold my hand, but he doesn’t even seem to notice that I’m there.
He’s focused on getting us through the crowd.
The whole thing is so surreal that part of me feels like I’m in a TV show.
The mansion is a sprawling white building with columns and balconies straight out of a history book.
If you look out from the back porch, you can see rolling hills and forests that seem to go on forever.
It’s the kind of place where celebrities come to escape the world, but tonight it’s filled with people.
Everywhere I look there are people dressed up and dancing and laughing, and I can’t help but feel like I don’t belong here.
Ethan must have noticed, because he looks back at me with concern in his eyes, but before he can say anything, someone calls his name.
He turns to see who it is, his grip on my hand tightening as we make our way through the crowd.
I know this is a Liam’s party, but I never expected it to be this big.
There are hundreds of people here, all of them dressed up and sipping champagne as they mingle under the stars.
The whole thing is so beautiful that it takes my breath away.
I’d always dreamed of going to a party like this, and now that I’m here, it’s even better than I imagined.
The air is warm and filled with the scent of flowers, and the whole place looks like something out of a magazine.
