I Amber Dysart ran straight to the peir were my father Captured Hook was. "Dad!!, can I come with you on your mission?" I ask. "No Amber" Hook says to me. I sigh and walk away sad.
I ran as fast as I could to the pier.
"Dad!!, can I come with you on your mission?" I ask.
Hook looks at me with a stern expression.
"No Amber"
He says.
I looked down, feeling sad.
Hook doesn't want me around; he never does.
I wish he'd let me go with him sometimes.
I'm twelve years old now, old enough to help him on his adventures.
But every time I ask, he says no, and every time I try to sneak onto the ship he finds me and makes me go back ashore.
I sighed and walked away from the ship, my brown hair blowing in the wind.
Tink follows me, silent as always.
"What's wrong Amber?"
She asks, hovering above my shoulder.
"Hook doesn't want me around" I say, kicking a rock into the sea.
"He never does"
Tink looks at me sympathetically before flying off towards the mermaid lagoon.
I sat down on a nearby rock and watched as Hook's ship sailed away, feeling more upset than usual.
Neverland's Rebel Princess
I sat on the rock, my eyes fixed on the horizon as Hook's ship disappeared from view.
The sound of the waves crashing against the shore was the only thing that broke the silence.
I felt a pang of sadness in my chest, wondering why Hook never wanted me to join him on his adventures.
As I sat there, lost in thought, I heard footsteps approaching from behind.
I turned to see Hook standing beside me, his hook glinting in the sunlight.
His expression was softer than before, and for a moment, I thought I saw a hint of something unfamiliar in his eyes - regret, perhaps?
"Amber," he began, his voice low and gentle.
I looked up at him, surprised by the change in his tone.
"I know you want to join me," he continued, glancing out at the sea.
His words hung in the air as he hesitated, his eyes scanning the horizon.
"But it's dangerous," he said finally, his voice firm but not unkind.
I felt a surge of frustration at his words, but before I could respond, he reached into his coat pocket and handed me a small compass.
Neverland's Rebel Princess
"Keep this safe," he instructed, turning back toward the ship without another word.
I took the compass, feeling its cool metal in my palm.
As I looked up at Hook, I saw that his expression had returned to its usual sternness.
He turned to leave, but I caught his arm, holding him back.
"Dad, what's going on?" I asked, feeling a sense of unease.
But before he could respond, a loud shout came from the direction of the ship.
"Incoming!" someone yelled.
Hook's head snapped toward the sea, his eyes narrowing as he scanned the horizon.
Neverland's Rebel Princess
As Hook's ship sailed into the distance, I clutched the compass tightly, its weight unfamiliar in my hand.
Tinker Bell hovered beside me, her wings shimmering in the fading light.
"What do you think it does?" she asked, her voice a whisper of curiosity.
I shrugged, turning the compass over to examine its intricate engravings.
The sun was dipping below the horizon, casting a warm orange glow over the pier.
Seagulls cried out overhead, their shadows dancing across the wooden planks.
Suddenly, the needle spun wildly, emitting a faint glow.
Before I could react, a powerful force pulled me forward, and the world around me blurred.
I stumbled onto the ship's deck, surrounded by startled crew members.
Hook's eyes widened as he turned to face me, his hook glinting in the fading light.
"Amber!" he exclaimed, his voice laced with surprise and concern.
I regained my balance, my heart racing from the sudden transportation.
Neverland's Rebel Princess
The crew stared at me, their faces a mix of confusion and alarm.
Tinker Bell appeared beside me, her light flickering rapidly as she hovered between me and Hook.
I looked up at my father, still trying to process what had just happened.
"How did I...?" I began, but Hook cut me off with a raised hand.
"No time for questions, Amber," he said curtly, his eyes scanning the horizon.
I followed his gaze, and that's when I saw it - a dark shape looming on the horizon, growing larger by the second.
"Incoming!" someone yelled again, this time louder and more urgent.
Hook's face set in a determined expression as he turned to his crew.
Neverland's Rebel Princess
As the ship rocked beneath my feet, I clutched the glowing compass, its mysterious pull still fresh in my mind.
Tinker Bell darted around me, her wings shimmering with urgency.
Hook barked orders to his crew, eyes fixed on the approaching threat—a menacing pirate ship closing in fast.
The air buzzed with tension as cannons were readied.
I edged closer to the railing for a better view, my heart pounding.
The dark shape loomed larger, its black sails billowing in the wind.
I could see the glint of metal on its deck, the flash of swords and pistols.
Suddenly, a sharp lurch sent me tumbling overboard.
Cold water engulfed me, and I gasped for breath, reaching out desperately.
"Dad!" I shouted, struggling against the relentless waves.
The ship's hull receded into the distance, Hook's face a blur as he yelled something back at me.
I kicked and flailed, but the water was too strong, pulling me under with an icy grip.
Neverland's Rebel Princess
I felt a rush of panic as my lungs began to burn, my vision blurring at the edges.
Just as all hope seemed lost, a hand grasped my wrist, pulling me upward with a jerk.
I broke the surface, coughing and gasping for air, as Tinker Bell hovered anxiously above me.
"Amber, are you okay?" she asked, her voice tinged with fear.
I nodded weakly, clinging to the side of a small rowboat that had appeared beside me, and Hook's voice called out from above, "Hold on tight, we're getting you back on board!"
Neverland's Rebel Princess
I shivered in the rowboat, drenched and trembling as Hook's ship loomed above, its hull a dark silhouette against the moonlit sky.
Tinker Bell hovered close, her wings casting a soft glow on the dark water, illuminating the ripples caused by my frantic breathing.
Hook's voice boomed orders to the crew, his eyes briefly meeting mine with a mix of relief and urgency as he leaned over the railing, his hook glinting in the faint light.
The enemy ship drew nearer, its cannons poised to fire, the sound of scraping metal and muttered curses carrying across the water.
I clutched the compass, its warmth a small comfort against the chill that had seeped into my bones.
Hook extended his hand, pulling me back onto the deck with a strength that belied his slender frame.
As I regained my footing, the first cannonball whistled past, splintering wood nearby and sending shards flying in all directions.
The battle had begun in earnest, the sound of pistols firing and swords clashing echoing across the water.
I stumbled backward, my eyes fixed on the chaos unfolding before me, as Hook's crew scrambled to return fire.
A loud crash shook the deck beneath my feet, and I stumbled again, this time into Hook's chest.
He grasped my shoulders, his eyes locked on mine for a fleeting instant before he spun me around, shouting something in my ear that was lost in the din of battle.
"Amber, listen closely," Hook said, his voice urgent amidst the chaos.
I nodded, trying to focus despite the noise and confusion.
"The compass—it leads to something more than treasure," he revealed, his eyes dark with a secret he'd kept too long.
