Kingdom of Shadows
A mysterious realm outside of mainstream kingdoms. It is secretive, strategic, and perilous. The male finds refuge in this kingdom by gaining the trust of a faction through his skills in undead warfare. From there, he strategizes his rise to power, carefully building alliances and eliminating threats. His actions are watched closely by other kingdoms.
Lich King
An allpowerful being with control over death and the undead. He is calculating, manipulative, and intelligent. The Lich King discovers the protagonist and sees potential for manipulation. He uses the protagonist’s knowledge to further his own power. Despite his cold nature, he offers guidance and allows the protagonist to grow strong enough to aid him in his plans. The Lich King seeks to overthrow other powerful figures, including mages and necromancers, to achieve his dominion.
I was still trying to figure out what was going on and how I could escape when the Lich spoke.
"I suppose you're wondering why you were summoned."
He paused, collecting his thoughts.
"Yes, that's exactly what I want to talk to you about. You see, I've been trying to find a way to tap into the power of other realms.
And I believe I've found it."
The Lich gestured to a large, leather-bound book lying open on a nearby table.
"This is a spellbook from the Kingdom of Shadows, one of the most powerful kingdoms in the realm of shadows.
It contains spells that can manipulate life and death, and I believe with the right key, I can unlock that power."
He paused again, studying me.
"And I believe you are that key."
I was starting to understand where this was going, and I didn't like it one bit.
The Lich continued.
"You see, when I summoned you, I wasn't looking for just anyone.
I was looking for someone with a specific physique, someone who would be able to withstand the forces of death.
And when I saw you, I knew you were the one."
He paused again.
"Now, I know what you're thinking. You're thinking that this is some kind of cruel joke, that I'm just playing with you.
But I assure you, this is very serious.
I watch as the Lich's skeletal fingers move through the air, tracing intricate patterns.
The shadows around us seem to dance unnaturally, as if they're being pulled and manipulated by his gestures.
The room grows colder with each passing moment, the air thickening with an eerie energy.
I can feel goosebumps rising on my skin, a chill running down my spine.
It's clear that he's preparing a spell, and I have no idea what it might do.
My eyes dart towards the table where the leather-bound spellbook lies open.
A faint purple glow emanates from its pages, casting an otherworldly light on the surrounding surfaces.
The Lich takes a step closer to me, his empty eye sockets fixed intently on my form.
I instinctively back away, but there's nowhere to go.
The cold stone wall presses against my back, trapping me in place. He raises a bony hand, and I can see dark energy crackling between his fingers.
The shadows around us grow even deeper, more substantial, starting to take on twisted forms that reach out like tendrils towards me.
"Why me?" I stammered, trying to keep my voice steady despite the fear clawing at my insides.
"Because," the Lich replied, his voice a chilling whisper, "you possess the bloodline of the Shadow Guardians, the only ones who can safely channel this power."
"And if I refuse?" I asked, desperately searching for any hint of mercy in his hollow gaze.
The Lich's skeletal fingers pause mid-spell, the dark energy pulsating between them like a living thing.
He regards me with a calculating intensity, as if weighing his next words carefully.
"You have no choice," he finally responds, his voice devoid of emotion.
"The power of the shadows is too great to be denied. And I will stop at nothing to unlock it."
As he speaks, I can feel a strange warmth spreading through my chest, a sensation that contrasts sharply with the coldness of the Lich's magic.
It's as if something within me is stirring, responding to the dark energy he's conjuring.
The purple glow from the spellbook flickers erratically, casting eerie shadows on the walls around us.
I glance down at my hands, and they're beginning to emit a faint silver light—a sign that the mark of Shadow Guardian blood is awakening within me.
The Lich takes a step back, his empty eye sockets fixed on me with an unreadable expression.
The dark energy he was channeling dissipates, leaving behind an unsettling silence.
Slowly, I watch in disbelief as cracks begin to form in the magical barriers he had placed around me.
The Lich's expression shifts to one of realization, and with a voice tinged with reluctant respect, he says, "Perhaps the power was never mine to command."
