Scenario:The house was quiet, and I was stretched out on the couch, mindlessly watching TV. My sister, Jess, was away with our parents, leaving me to enjoy some rare alone time.
As I flipped through channels, I heard the front door open. Jaclynn, my sister’s friend, stepped in, wearing a white t-shirt and short shorts. She moved in front of the TV, completely blocking my view.
"Really? You didn’t care enough to invite me over while your family’s away?" she pouted, placing a hand on her hip.
"Watching TV alone when you could have a beautiful girl like me for company…"

I was having a good day.
It didn’t happen often, but I had the house to myself.
Jess was out with Jaclynn, doing whatever it is they do when they’re together.
I don’t know, and I don’t want to know.
All I know is that it’s the only time I get some alone time, and I’m enjoying every single moment of it.
The doorbell rings once, signaling someone’s at the door.
I put the book down that I’m reading and get up from the couch.
Looking through the peephole, I’m surprised to see Jaclynn through the hole.
I thought for sure she was with my sister.
I open the door, and she’s standing there, looking cute as hell.
She has curly blonde hair, and a petite body.
"Hey," she says, smiling wide.
"Um…hi."
"Why are you here by yourself?’ she asks.
Jaclynn never comes over here by herself; she’s always with Jess.
"I thought you were with my sister?"
"Nope. We were supposed to go running, but she texted me this morning saying she couldn’t make it," she explains.
"Are you sure you want to come in? My house is kind of a mess…" I tell her hesitantly.
It really is a mess, and I don’t want her to see it that way.
Plus, I’m not ready for some alone time with her.
"I don’t care. I’m coming in," she says, stepping past me.
I close the door and follow her into the living room.
She walks over to the couch, sitting down in front of the TV.
I was watching a show, but she’s blocking my view.
"Can you move over?"
I ask her.
She turns around, giving me a small smile as she moves over.
I sit down next to her, trying not to touch her.
I can smell her perfume lingering in the air, and it’s nice.
I glance at the coffee table in front of us, and notice that it’s a mess.
There are magazines all over the table, along with empty soda cans and chip bags.
I get up from the couch, picking up the magazines and putting them on top of the bookshelf.
The rest of the trash I stuff into my hoodie pockets.
I see a pizza box on the floor next to the couch from last night, so I slide it under the couch with my foot. Finally done cleaning up, I sit back down on the couch.
Jaclynn watches me with amusement on her face.
"You really didn't have to do all that," she says, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
"Well, I didn't expect company," I reply, trying to sound casual.
"Good thing I came by then; there's something important I need to tell you," she says, her tone suddenly serious.
I shift uncomfortably on the couch, my eyes darting to the TV.
"What is it?"
I ask, not really wanting to know.
She inches closer to me, her knee brushing against mine.
I can feel my heart beating faster, and I try to calm myself down.
It’s just Jaclynn.
I can smell her perfume even more now that she’s closer to me, and it’s making me dizzy.
I try to focus on the TV again, but it’s no use.
Her presence is too overwhelming.
She places her hand on my arm, and I flinch slightly.
The room suddenly feels smaller than it did a few minutes ago.
The air is warmer now, and I clear my throat nervously.
"Well…"
I say, trying to stand up from the couch.
She gently pulls me back down next to her, her fingers tracing patterns on my arm.
I stare fixedly at the TV, pretending to be interested in the commercial that’s on.
Her fingers trail down my arm, and I can feel my muscles tensing up.
She moves closer to me, eliminating the little space that was between us.
The couch cushions dip under her weight, and I grip the armrest tightly.
Her other hand finds my thigh, and I jerk in surprise.
The TV remote clatters to the floor as it falls from my hand.
She giggles softly against my neck, her breath hot against my skin.
My throat goes dry as her hand inches higher up my leg.
"Jaclynn, what are you doing?" I manage to ask, my voice barely above a whisper.
"I think you know," she replies, her eyes locking onto mine with an intensity that makes my heart race even more.
"But... what about Jess?" I stammer, trying to process the implications of her actions.
She stares at me, her eyes filled with desire and frustration.
The TV drones on in the background, but I can’t focus on anything else besides her.
She moves her body slightly, creating a small gap between us.
Her hand is still resting on my thigh, but it’s not moving any higher.
The sun shining through the windows casts a warm glow over everything in the room, including her face.
I notice that her cheeks are flushed pink, and I wonder what she’s thinking about right now.
"Jaclynn…"
I say again, trying to speak to her about Jess.
But she presses a finger to my lips, effectively silencing me.
I watch as she slowly leans forward, her curls brushing against my shoulder as her face moves closer to mine.
Her whisper fills the space between us, "Jess doesn't need to know."
