MidReal Story

My Sister’s Flirtatious Friend

Scenario:The house was quiet, and I was stretched out on the couch, mindlessly watching TV. My sister, Jess, was away with our parents, leaving me to enjoy some rare alone time. As I flipped through channels, I heard the front door open. Jaclynn, my sister’s friend, stepped in, wearing a white t-shirt and short shorts. She moved in front of the TV, completely blocking my view. "Really? You didn’t care enough to invite me over while your family’s away?" she pouted, placing a hand on her hip. "Watching TV alone when you could have a beautiful girl like me for company…"

I was enjoying my Saturday morning.
I had just gotten done watching the last episode of Prison Break and was starting to search for a new show to watch.
I didn’t get much time alone; I usually had Jess or one of her friends hanging around.
I was glad I had this day to myself.
I could finally get some shit done I needed to.
Looking through Netflix, I settled on The Office and began watching the first episode.
I was engrossed in the show when I heard a knock at my door.
I didn’t have any plans with anyone, and Jess wouldn’t knock before entering my room.
"Come in," I called out, opening the door and waiting for whoever it was to enter.
The door slowly opened, and Jaclynn peeked inside.
She hesitated before entering my room.
"Um, hey, Alex. I was just looking for Jess. Is she here?"
Jaclynn was petite with curly blonde hair.
I had always thought she was hot, but she was my sister’s friend.
I couldn’t do anything about that even if I wanted to.
"No, she’s not here. Want to come in?"
I asked, stepping back so she could enter.
My Sister’s Flirtatious Friend
She stepped into my room, her fingers lingering on the doorknob before letting it click shut.
She looked around my room, taking in the unmade bed and the TV still playing The Office.
She walked over to my desk chair and sat down, spinning to face me.
Her legs were crossed, and I could see up her short shorts.
I didn’t know what to do.
I had been standing by the door when she entered, and I didn’t know if I should go back to my bed or sit somewhere else.
The silence was awkward as we both just stared at each other.
I leaned against the wall, watching her as she picked up a framed photo of Jess and me from my desk.
"When will she be back?" she asked, though I knew she already knew the answer.
"Not for a while," I replied, trying to read her expression.
My Sister’s Flirtatious Friend
She put the photo back down and looked directly at me, her eyes steady.
"Good, because I actually came here to talk to you about something important."
She set the photo down and wheeled my desk chair closer to me, her fingers fidgeting with the hem of her t-shirt.
She opened her mouth to say something, but then looked down at her feet instead.
I waited for her to talk, watching her as she tried to get the right words out.
The hum of the ceiling fan above us was the only sound in the room.
The silence was uncomfortable, but I didn’t want to be the first to speak.
I could tell whatever she wanted to talk about was important to her.
After a few moments, she looked up at me, her eyes locking with mine.
"I've noticed how you look at me sometimes," she said quietly, her voice almost a whisper.
My heart rate increased, and I gripped the edge of my mattress tighter.
"I didn't think you noticed," I replied, my voice barely steady.
My Sister’s Flirtatious Friend
She gave a small, nervous laugh, tucking a curl behind her ear.
"Well, I did, and... I think I feel the same way."
