I was sitting at the counter in a small diner when I saw him walk in.
He was tall and dark with a strong jaw and chocolate brown eyes.
I knew immediately that I would fall in love with him and that he would be the only one for me.
He walked over to the waitress who showed him to a booth in the back.
I watched him as he ordered and she walked back to give me his drink order.
I took the drinks to his booth myself.
"Hi," I said, putting down his coffee and water.
"Hi."
He looked up at me quickly before going back to his book.
I stood there for a little while before saying anything else.
"You're reading Revelations."
This was more of a statement than a question.
"Yes, I am," he said, looking up at me again.
"My name is Emily," I told him, sitting down in the booth with him.
"What's yours?"
"Dean."
"Dean, what do you do for a living, Dean?"
I asked him.
"I hunt things," he told me, not giving me any more information.
"What do you hunt?"
I asked him, wanting more information out of him.
"The supernatural," he told me, looking back at his book.
"Oh," I said, understanding that he did not want to talk to me at all.
It did not take me long to figure out what he was.
I leaned forward across the booth, my fingers brushing the worn leather cover of his Bible.
He jerked the book away from me, his jaw tightening.
Behind him, his brother Sam entered the diner and spotted us.
He stopped by the door, his eyes going from me to Dean, who was staring at me intently.
"You don't know what you're asking," he said, voice low and rough.
I slid my hand closer to him on the table, pointing to a passage in his book about demons.
"But I do. I've seen things too."
His eyes flicked to mine and he looked at me with more interest now.
Sam made his way over to us slowly, hand resting on something in his jacket.
Sam's hand relaxed on his weapon when he saw that I was not a threat.
"You've seen things?"
Dean asked me, eyes narrowing.
"Yes," I told him, looking at Sam.
"I've been doing research for the past year. My sister died and there were no signs of forced entry or exit. She was just gone."
I looked at Dean, my eyes pleading with him to believe me.
"There was sulfur at the crime scene."
His eyes softened and he looked at Sam who nodded.
"I've been tracking signs of demons in the area. I have a journal."
I pulled out my own journal and opened it up to the first page.
It was filled with newspaper clippings about strange occurrences and deaths in the area.
Dean took it from me, flipping through the pages slowly.
He stopped at one page and looked over at Sam who leaned over his shoulder to look too.
"Look," Sam said, pointing to a symbol on one of the pages.
"It's the same symbol that we found on the girl's hand."
Dean turned back to me, handing me my journal back.
"You've been tracking signs of demons in this area?"
"I'm closing up the diner now. I'll meet you outside."
I stood up and walked to the back of the diner, grabbing my purse and keys.
I locked the door behind me and walked over to where Dean and Sam were standing.
They were leaning against a black Impala.
"Where's your car?"
Dean asked me.
"It's right there," I told him, pointing to a small blue car in the parking lot.
"I have a map in my trunk that I've been using to track the demon's movements."
Dean opened his trunk and pulled out a large map of the area.
He spread it out on the hood of his car, pointing out several areas that had strange occurrences.
Sam leaned over the map, looking at it intently.
"Let's go," he said, folding up the map and putting it back in my trunk.
"We'll take my car," Dean said, opening the passenger door for me.
Sam got in the backseat as Dean got in the driver's seat.
I sat down in the passenger seat, spreading out my research notes on the dashboard.
"Look," I said, pointing to a pattern of sulfur traces around a church on the outskirts of town.
"There have been several cattle deaths in this area too."
Dean looked at me as I pointed to each spot on the map.
His hand brushed mine as he reached for one of my documents. "We're going to park a block away from the church," Sam said from the backseat, breaking us apart.
"We don't want to be seen."
