My name is Denki Kamanari!
Well, I mean I got older and I'm now the best hero (totally not number 44 on the rankings) Chargebolt!
I have an amazing wife who may not have any powers, but she's full of love for me!
Her name is Aashini!
She's the sweetest!
I'm so happy with my life.
What could possibly go wrong?
Hey there!
It's me Denki!
You know, the guy who used to be a student at U.A. High School?
Yeah, that's me!
I'm a lot older now and I've got a lot going for me.
I'm married to my lovely wife, Aashini!
We met in high school and we just clicked.
We both liked the same things and we were always comfortable around each other.
Comfortable to the point where we could be our true selves around each other.
Aashini doesn't have any powers, but that never bothered me.
I knew that she was special and that she deserves someone special, and that someone is me.
I proposed to her the day we graduated and she said yes!
We were married a few months later and we've been living happily ever since.
I've got my job as a hero and I love it.
I get to help people and make a difference in the world.
It's a great feeling.
Aashini also has a job and she loves it too.
She works at a bakery and she's amazing at it.
She's so talented and smart.

We're just living our best lives and enjoying each other's company.
We're happy.
We're sitting on the couch at home watching TV when it suddenly flickers and goes black.
The hum of our refrigerator dies and the ceiling fan slows to a stop.
I look out the window and see that all the streetlights are out too.
That's strange.
My hero agency didn't say anything about any scheduled maintenance.
I walk over to the window and place my hand against the glass.
The whole block is pitch black, except for a few emergency lights here and there.
My phone buzzes in my pocket with an alert from the hero network.

I pull it out and Aashini moves to stand beside me at the window.
The alert shows that there are multiple power failures all over the city.
They're originating from the industrial district and spreading outward.
My electrical sense is tingling, something is off about this blackout.
It doesn't feel right.
I've been in blackouts before, but this one is different.
It's almost like there's a surge of energy that's not following the normal grid flow.
It's hard to explain.
The emergency lights flicker on and off erratically, they should be steady, but they're not.
I start pulling my costume on, just in case I get called for deployment.

I hear a rumble of thunder outside, but according to my backup phone's weather radar, it's clear skies tonight. Aashini stands at the window and stares out into the darkness.
Her silhouette is outlined by the distant emergency lights.
"Denki, do you think this could be an attack?" Aashini asks, her voice steady but laced with concern.
"I don't know, but it feels like something big," I reply, fastening the last strap of my costume.
"Then you'd better be careful out there; I'll keep an eye on things from here," she says, determination in her eyes.
