I was married to William, the King of our country.
But I loved Bruce, William's brother.
It was a love that was never meant to be.
"Selena, I'll be back soon," my husband said as he prepared to leave the castle.
"Be good and wait for me."
I nodded but didn't say anything back.
I wasn't really paying attention to him.
My eyes were already looking for his brother, Bruce.
He was always so handsome and kind whenever I saw him.
I had a crush on him since I was young, but I knew it was futile.
I was arranged to marry his brother, while he remained a forbidden fruit that tempted me.
"Queen Selena, can I have a word with you?"
I heard someone say as I turned around to see Margaret, one of my friends and also a friend to Bruce and William.
"Yes, of course," I said as I followed her to a private room.
"What is it?"
I asked her.
"I know you love Bruce," she said, and my eyes widened in shock.
"How did you know?"
I asked her.
"You can't hide your feelings from me," she said with a smile.
"I'm sorry," I said as I looked down in shame.
"No need to apologize," she said as she lifted my chin with her fingers.
"I'm here to help you."
"Help me? How?"

"I can arrange a secret meeting between you and Bruce," she said.
I hesitated.
"But how?"
"The garden will be empty during the evening feast when all the servants are busy preparing dinner. You can meet there without being seen," she explained.
"But I shouldn't," I said, knowing it was wrong.
"Come on, Selena. Just this once," Margaret said with a smile.
I agreed.
Later that day, as dusk approached, I made excuses to skip the evening feast, saying I had a headache.
I went back to my chambers and changed into a simple blue dress.
I wrapped a dark cloak around my shoulders to conceal myself in the shadows.

My hands were shaking as I checked the hallway outside my room.
It was clear.
I followed the shadows along the castle walls, my soft shoes barely making a sound on the stone floor.
Finally, I reached the garden entrance and paused for a moment before stepping inside.
My heart was pounding as I waited in the moonlit garden.
I crouched behind a marble statue, my blue dress rustling against the grass.
The music from the evening feast drifted faintly from the great hall, mingling with the chirping of crickets in the flower beds.
I glanced around nervously, terrified that a servant might stumble upon me.
But the garden was quiet and still, except for the distant laughter of guests and the soft breeze rustling through the leaves.
Suddenly, I heard a twig snap nearby.
I froze, holding my breath as footsteps approached - slow and deliberate.
My heart raced faster, and I clutched my cloak tighter around me.
The scent of roses filled the air as a shadow moved between the bushes.
I stood up slowly, my legs trembling beneath me.

The figure drew closer, and I recognized the familiar silhouette of Bruce.
The moonlight illuminated his features as he stepped into the clearing.
His dark hair was tousled, and his eyes gleamed with a mix of curiosity and caution.
I adjusted my cloak nervously, my hands shaking slightly.
Bruce paused at the edge of the garden, looking around cautiously.
He checked over his shoulder once more before continuing towards me.
The music from the feast faded into the background as he drew nearer.
I held my breath, my heart pounding in my chest.
Bruce stopped a few feet away from me, his eyes searching mine in the dim light.
A gentle smile spread across his face as he took another step forward.
My Forbidden Crown Prince
The shadows danced across his features, casting an ethereal glow on his skin.
I felt like I was trapped in a dream, unable to move or speak.
I stared up at his face, close enough now to see the flecks of gold in his dark eyes.
The garden shadows concealed us behind the statue as he reached for my trembling hand.
His fingers intertwined with mine, warm and steady against my cold skin.
The distant music from the feast faded to a whisper as Bruce's other hand brushed against my cheek, sending shivers down my spine.
My breath caught in my throat as he slowly leaned closer, his familiar scent of leather and pine surrounding me.
My Forbidden Crown Prince
I closed my eyes, torn between desire and guilt, as his face drew nearer to mine.
"Selena, there's something I need to tell you," Bruce whispered, his voice barely audible over the rustling leaves.
I opened my eyes, searching his face for answers.
"I found out why your father wants us apart—it’s not just about the family feud."
