The doorbell rang.
I went to open the door.
My brother Yan Ming burst in.

Mom came out of the kitchen and said, "Ming Ming, you're back?"
Yan Ming said, "I'm back."
Mom asked, "Why didn't you tell us you were coming back today?"
Yan Ming said, "I wanted to surprise you."
Mom smiled and said, "Let's go to the kitchen. I'll make you something to eat."
Yan Ming pulled up a chair next to Chen Rui and said, "I'm not hungry. I just ate."
I stood in the kitchen doorway and watched them talk.
Yan Ming was talking about something and gesturing with his hands.
Chen Rui laughed and glanced at me with a warm smile.
I brought tea over and sat beside Chen Rui.
Yan Ming said, "Xue Xue, you're so lucky. You have a boyfriend who likes motorcycles. I'll introduce you to my friends in the motorcycle club next time."
Chen Rui smiled and said, "That would be great."
Yan Ming looked at Chen Rui and asked, "Do you like mooncakes?"
Chen Rui said, "Yes. I like them."
Yan Ming leaned in closer and whispered, "Then you must try the ones from our old family recipe. They're legendary."
Chen Rui chuckled softly, "I'd be honored. Maybe I can help make them someday."
Yan Ming's eyes twinkled with mischief, "Careful what you wish for; it's a secret passed down through generations."
After the tea, I walked Chen Rui to his motorcycle parked outside our apartment.
Under the dim streetlight, I said, "Chen Rui, my family makes mooncakes every Mid-Autumn Festival. We'll do it this weekend. Do you want to come?"
Chen Rui's eyes lit up.
"Really? That would be amazing! I'd love to help."
I smiled, seeing how naturally he fit with my family.
Yan Ming called down from the third-floor window, "Xue Xue! Tell him to come early on Saturday. He needs to learn the proper technique!"
Mom appeared beside Yan Ming and said, "I'll prepare all the ingredients. See you then."
I squeezed Chen Rui's hand.
"I'll pick you up at nine."
Chen Rui nodded and kissed my cheek.
"Yan Xue, there's something I need to tell you before Saturday," Chen Rui said, his voice suddenly serious.
I looked at him, concerned, "What is it?"
He hesitated for a moment, then said, "My parents want to meet you too."
