Flona and Lily are fighting over who gets to date KJ, when KJ only wants Flona, but Lily always manages to stop Flona from hearing it.
Flona
and purple haired girl, almost always embarrassed of something, and she is incredibly adorable.
Lily
always in high spirits, wearing cute clothes.
I stared at KJ with all my might, and he stared back at me.
I could see his mouth moving, but I couldn't hear what he was saying.
I only knew that he must be saying something really cool because he had a huge smile on his face.
But then Lily jumped in front of me and blocked my view of him.
I frowned and tried to move around her, but she kept blocking me.
Why was she doing this?
Couldn't she see that I wanted to talk to KJ?
I was going to ask him out.
It was the perfect opportunity!
But every single time I tried to get in front of Lily, she would move and block my way.
Finally, I just gave up.
I stopped trying and crossed my arms over my chest.
Staring at the back of Lily's pink haired head, I muttered under my breath, "I hate you."
Lily turned around and grinned at me.
"What?"
"I said I hate you."
"Really? Why?"
I rolled my eyes and sighed, "You know why."
Lily's grin never faltered.
"Nope. I don't."
"You're being a bitch."
"Am I?"
"Yes. You are."
I clenched my fists, feeling the anger build up in my chest.
My eyes darted between Lily's smug face and KJ, who was still standing there, now looking at us with a confused expression on his face.
Lily's grin grew wider.
"Are you jealous?"
I didn't say anything.
I just stood there, breathing heavily.
Then I took a deep breath and stepped forward.
Pressing my hands against Lily's shoulders, I shoved her out of the way.
She stumbled back a few steps, looking shocked that I had actually touched her.
Her grin dropped from her face as I walked past her.
I could feel my heart beating faster with each step.
Behind me, I could hear Lily calling out to me, but I didn't turn around.
I kept walking until I reached KJ. My legs felt shaky beneath me, but I forced myself to stand up straight and look him in the eye.
He was still smiling at me, but his smile looked different now.
It looked concerned.
"Hi," he said softly, taking a step closer to me.
"Hi," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper.
My heart was pounding in my chest.
I could feel it beating against my ribcage.
I looked up at KJ, and he looked down at me.
He was so tall and broad-shouldered.
His black muscle shirt stretched across his chest, revealing the toned muscles beneath.
I felt small and weak next to him.
I swallowed hard and tried to speak again, but Lily's voice cut through the air, stopping me in my tracks.
"KJ!"
Lily's voice sounded angry, and I knew that she was staring daggers into the back of my head right now.
But I didn't turn around to look at her.
I kept my eyes fixed on KJ instead.
He glanced over my shoulder at Lily, but then he looked back at me again.
His concerned expression softened, and he smiled at me once more. "Hey," he said softly, taking a step closer to me again.
I felt my heart skip a beat as he moved closer.
His smile was so bright and warm that it made me feel like I was melting inside.
I swallowed hard again, trying to find my voice.
"Hi," I said again, my voice still barely above a whisper.
KJ leaned down slightly to hear me better, his dark hair falling across his forehead in soft waves.
He smiled even wider as he looked down at me, his bright blue eyes shining with kindness.
I could feel his breath on my face now, warm and sweet against my skin. I shivered slightly, feeling the heat of his body wash over me.
I had never been this close to him before, and I couldn't help but stare at him in awe.
He was so handsome and strong, with broad shoulders and powerful muscles that rippled beneath his skin as he moved.
His voice was deep and smooth as he spoke again, his words washing over me like a warm wave of honey. "Are you okay?"
I nodded slowly, still staring up at him in wonder. "Y-yes," I stuttered finally, finding my voice again. "I-I'm fine."
KJ smiled once more and straightened up again, his eyes never leaving mine. "Good," he said softly, taking a step back from me. "I was worried about you."
"I-I'm sorry," I stammered, feeling a surge of guilt wash over me. "I didn't mean to cause any trouble."
KJ shook his head gently. "No need to apologize," he said softly. "Just be careful next time."
I watch Lily's reflection in the window behind KJ.
Her pink hair swishes back and forth as she throws her hands up in the air dramatically.
She stomps down the hallway, her footsteps echoing off the walls.
They get fainter and fainter until I can't hear them anymore.
The sudden quiet feels strange after all the commotion.
KJ shifts his weight from one foot to the other, drawing my attention back to him.
His muscled arms flex as he adjusts the strap of his backpack on his shoulder.
I catch a whiff of his cologne as he moves, and my stomach flutters in response.
The silence stretches out between us, but it's not uncomfortable.
He's still smiling down at me, patient and kind, while I gather my courage.
"Do you want to get some coffee with me?"
I stare at him in disbelief, my mouth hanging open slightly.
He actually said yes.
My legs feel wobbly beneath me as he turns toward the school exit, his broad shoulders leading the way.
I hurry to keep pace with his long strides, clutching my bag tightly to stop my hands from trembling.
Other students part around us in the hallway, some whispering and pointing.
I catch glimpses of my flushed face in the classroom windows we pass.
KJ holds the heavy front door open for me, and warm afternoon sunlight washes over us.
I step outside, feeling the weight of the day lift as I walk beside him into the light.
Walking beside KJ to the coffee shop, I try to control my breathing.
His arm occasionally brushes mine as we walk, sending sparks of electricity through me.
The sidewalk feels uneven under my feet, and I grip my bag tighter to hide my trembling fingers.
When we reach a crosswalk, KJ places his hand on my shoulder to stop me from stepping into traffic.
His touch sends a jolt through me, and I freeze in place.
A car zooms past, and I realize I hadn't seen the red light.
I'd been too distracted by KJ's presence beside me.
KJ chuckles softly, his hand lingering on my shoulder.
"Guess I make you a little nervous, huh?" he teases gently, his eyes twinkling with amusement.
I nod, feeling my cheeks heat up as I admit, "Yeah, you do... but in a good way."
