Once there was a Korean girl.
She was super nice and kindhearted.
She loved animals.
She had a dream to be an idol.
Just like her brother, who was also an idol in a famous Korean group.
Her brother's name was Choi San, and he was from ATEEZ.
Because of her brother, she also became an Atiny (ATEEZ's fandom).
She really wanted to meet her brother and the other members of ATEEZ.
She wanted to watch their concert, but she didn't know when and where their next concert would be.
One day, she finally got the chance to see their concert!
She was super happy!
After the concert, she also got the chance to meet all the members of ATEEZ!
When her brother heard that she would be coming to their backstage, he was super excited!
He immediately went out from their VIP room.
When she saw her brother, she couldn't believe her eyes!
Her brother came to meet her first!
She immediately hugged her brother tightly!
Her brother also hugged her back.
From behind him, another person came out from their VIP room.
It was Seonghwa, one of the members of ATEEZ!
"Hi," the girl said with a light bow to Seonghwa.
My eyes are still fixed on my sister, who is now bowing to Seonghwa.
Her cheeks are flushed with excitement.
The backstage corridor is empty and quiet, except for the distant hum of fans still lingering outside the venue.
My arms are still warm from our hug, and I can't stop smiling at her enthusiasm.
She's wearing an ATEEZ concert shirt - one of mine from our latest tour.
Seonghwa steps closer, his stage makeup still perfectly in place despite the intense performance we just finished.
My sister fidgets with her backstage pass, clearly nervous about meeting another member of the group she idolizes.
"Did you enjoy the show?" Seonghwa asks, his voice gentle and welcoming.
"It was amazing! I can't believe I'm actually here with all of you," she replies, her eyes wide with admiration.
"Well, there's something we want to tell you," I say, glancing at Seonghwa before turning back to her, "we've arranged for you to join us on our next tour as an honorary member."
Her hands fly to her mouth as she absorbs the words, and I steady her with a gentle grip on her shoulders.
Her whole body trembles as she processes the news, and Seonghwa watches with an amused smile.
She struggles to form words, opening and closing her mouth like a fish out of water.
The fluorescent lights above us catch the tears welling up in her eyes.
Then, in one swift motion, she launches herself at me, nearly knocking me back into the wall behind us.
Her arms squeeze around my waist so tightly I can barely breathe.
I guide her to a nearby chair, where she continues to cling to me, her whole body shaking with sobs of joy.
Seonghwa quietly excuses himself, giving us this moment to ourselves.
Through her tears, she keeps repeating "thank you" over and over, her fingers gripping my tour shirt like it's a lifeline.
I stroke her hair gently, remembering how she used to watch me practice from the doorway of our home studio when we were younger.
When she finally lifts her head, her makeup is streaked but her smile is radiant.
She wipes her eyes with the back of her hand, then fires off a string of rapid questions about the tour schedule and what she needs to prepare.
I sit down beside her on the cold metal bench, our shoulders touching as she continues to sniffle and wipe at her eyes.
The fluorescent lights above us cast harsh shadows across her tear-streaked face, and distant music echoes through the empty corridor.
She clutches the backstage pass with trembling fingers, still trying to process the news that has just changed her life.
When another tear rolls down her cheek, I reach over instinctively, my thumb brushing it away just like I used to do when we were kids.
Her hands are still shaking as she reaches into her bag, pulling out an envelope that's been crumpled and smoothed out so many times it looks like it's been sat on.
The dim lighting backstage casts long shadows across her face as she explains how she found it slipped under her bedroom door last week.
Her voice drops to a whisper as she opens the envelope and shows me the contents.
It's a letter written in elegant, cursive script, with each line perfectly spaced and centered on the page.
Someone has clearly taken great care in arranging this opportunity for her, even if they're staying in the shadows.
I take the paper from her, marveling at its smooth texture between my fingers.
It's expensive stuff, not the kind of thing you'd normally use for a casual note.
The words blur together on the page as I focus on the signature at the bottom - a single letter "J" in the same flowing script as the rest of the letter.
I look up at her, my stomach tightening into a knot.
"Where else have you seen handwriting like this?"
Her eyes meet mine, wide with realization, and she whispers, "Only in my father's old journals."
