"Kamden, where is daddy?"
I heard a sweet voice coming from my side.
I looked down and smiled at the little boy who stood there looking at me.
"He will be here in a minute, baby. Be patient."
I said to him and patted his head.
The boy I was talking to is a fouryearold cute boy named Chan Lee.
He is my son, and his father is the man I have been waiting for at the airport these past 5 minutes.
Yes, you heard that right.
Chan's father doesn't know he has a child with me.
He left before he even knew I was pregnant and gave birth to our child.
I gave birth to Chan one year after he got deployed to Japan for his 3 years military service.
I have been thinking so hard about how to let Alexander know he has a child with me, but I still haven't come up with any good ways.
I don't want him to feel sad about it or avoid me, so I just kept this secret in my heart all these years.
I really hope I can find a good way to let him know soon enough.
I can't hide this forever.
"Kamden, where is daddy?"
Chan asked again, looking around like he thinks his father is hiding somewhere around there.
I smiled again at him and held his hands.
"Daddy will be here in a minute, okay? Then we will explain everything to him."

"Look, baby. Daddy is coming."
I said to him and pointed at the man who was walking towards us.
The man I was pointing at was wearing a military uniform.
He was looking around like he was searching for someone.
His eyes scanned the crowd of people around us, and then his eyes stopped on me.
He looked at me for a few seconds before he started walking towards us.
I could see his face clearly now.
He has changed a lot, but he still looks handsome and cute.
His black hair was cut short, and his blue eyes were shining brightly.
He is still as handsome as he was 3 years ago when we first met.

Chan's small fingers gripped tighter around my hand before he darted behind my legs and pressed his face against my thigh.
I can feel his nervous trembling through my legs.
The distance between us got shorter with each step Alexander took towards us.
I tried to keep my composure while Alexander's warm smile grew wider on his face.
Alexander stopped a few feet away from us.
His smile faltered for a second before he regained his composure.
"There's a little kid behind you," Alexander said, his voice shaking slightly.
I gripped Chan's small hand tightly around my thigh as he tried to duck further behind me.
I could still see his tiny face peeking out from behind my legs.
The crowd of people around us moved and walked past us, but we stood there frozen for a few seconds.
Alexander's eyes kept darting between my face and the little boy peeking from behind my legs.
I could see the realization on his face before I could say anything to him.
"Is that him?"
Chan whispered loudly enough for Alexander to hear.

"Yes, baby. Daddy is here," I replied to Chan's question, and he gripped my hand tighter.
I watched as Alexander lowered himself to Chan's eye level, the fabric of his military uniform crinkling at his knees.
Chan's grip on my hand loosened slightly, and his natural curiosity started to get the better of him.
He took a tiny step from behind my legs while still keeping one small hand firmly attached to my pants.
Alexander kept smiling gently at Chan, though I could see his hands trembling slightly as they rested on his knees.

Alexander slowly reached out his hand towards Chan, his palm facing upwards in a welcoming gesture.
Chan glanced up at me for reassurance before I gave him a small nod.
The airport noise faded into the background as Alexander spoke softly to our son, his voice trembling slightly.
"It's ok, I'm not going to hurt you, buddy."
Chan's grip on my pants loosened further as he took another step towards Alexander.

His small fingers released my clothing completely as he reached out for Alexander's outstretched hand.
Their hands met, and in that moment, the world felt whole again.
Alexander's voice trembled as he spoke those words to Chan, still kneeling at eye level in his military uniform.
Chan nodded shyly, gripping Alexander's extended hand with both of his small ones now.
I watched as Alexander swallowed hard, trying to keep his composure as he processed this reality.
The airport bustled around us, but we stood there frozen for a few seconds, locked in this crucial moment.
Chan tugged at Alexander's sleeve, asking if he could hug him.

Alexander glanced up at me, tears forming in his eyes, seeking silent permission.
I nodded, my own eyes misting over, and Alexander opened his arms wide.
Chan hesitated for just a heartbeat before launching himself into his father's embrace.
Alexander scooped him up in his arms, and I guided them to a nearby bench, away from the crowd.
The bench was tucked away in a corner, partially hidden by a large potted plant.
Alexander sat down with Chan on his lap, still trying to wrap his mind around the fact that he had a son.
His military bag lay forgotten on the floor, its worn fabric a reminder of his years of service.
He examined Chan's features intently, tracing the small nose and curved eyebrows that mirrored his own.

Chan played with Alexander's dog tags, his tiny fingers exploring every detail.
When Alexander finally spoke, his voice cracked slightly.
"I can't believe I have a son," he whispered, looking at me with a mix of wonder and hurt.
"I never knew I had one."
I sat beside him, watching as Chan continued to trace the embossed letters on Alexander's dog tags.
Chan's eyes grew wide when he reached the military insignia on Alexander's uniform, his small fingers touching each medal with a sense of reverence.
Alexander explained what each badge represented, his voice still shaky.
He told Chan about his time in the military, about the missions and the camaraderie.
When he mentioned serving overseas to protect people, Chan's face lit up with excitement.
He turned in Alexander's lap, bouncing slightly as he spoke in a pure, childlike voice.
"I can't believe my dada saved the world!"
Alexander chuckled softly, ruffling Chan's hair with a newfound tenderness.
"Well, maybe not the whole world, but I tried my best," he replied, his eyes meeting mine with a hint of pride.
Chan beamed up at him, his innocence shining through as he asked, "Can you teach me how to be a hero too?"

Alexander's voice was filled with emotion as he whispered something to Chan before setting him down on the bench beside him.
My heart raced as Alexander rose and took a few steps toward me, his military boots clicking against the airport floor.
Chan swung his legs, still playing with the dog tags Alexander had given him.
Alexander's eyes locked with mine, filled with an intensity I hadn't seen in three years.
His hands, still slightly trembling, cupped my face, and he pulled me into a deep kiss.

Chan's giggle broke through my daze as he covered his eyes with Alexander's tags.
