Scenario:Today, I’d finished my chores and decided to drop by my best friend Jake’s barbershop to do a little haircut. But when I walked in, I froze. Jake greeted me with a grin. “Hey, Honey, check this out,” he said, revealing Belle—my girlfriend—sitting in a chair.
She looked flustered and weirdly tired. She was panting and sweating heavily, and her hair was disheveled, as if she'd just been through a vigorous workout.
“This is your girlfriend, isn’t she?” Jake smirked, lifting her chin.
"Honey... I'm sorry..." Belle apologizes hastily, though her voice sounds somewhat strained.

I pushed open the heavy door and stepped inside the dimly lit building.
A bell above the door rang out and the sound of clippers buzzed in the air.
I looked around, spotting my best friend, Jake, at the back of the room, cutting a guy’s hair.
He looked up and his hazel eyes met mine.
A wide grin spread across his face and he gave me a nod before turning his attention back to his client.
I looked around, trying to find Belle.
We had plans to meet here and then go get some lunch together.
I couldn’t find her though.
I looked back at Jake and tilted my head to the side.
He gave me a look that said she was in the back.
I walked past the empty chairs and my feet sank into the worn carpet.
The hallway leading to the back room was narrow and lined with pictures of classic haircuts.
The buzz of clippers faded behind me as I stepped into the hall.
A strip of yellow light spilled from beneath the break room door.
I heard rustling inside and then her laugh.
My hand reached out and wrapped around the brass doorknob.
It was cool against my palm.
I paused for a second, hearing Jake’s voice through the door.
"Better get dressed before he gets here"
There was more rustling and then I heard her laugh again.
My hand trembled on the doorknob.
I took a deep breath, turned it slowly, and pushed the door open.
The fluorescent lights overhead flickered and then hummed to life, bathing the room in a harsh blue light.
She stood in front of the worn leather couch, pulling her blouse over her head.
Her skirt was wrinkled and one shoe lay kicked off under the coffee table.
She froze when she saw me, her arms tangled in her shirt sleeves.
A tube of lipstick rolled off the couch onto the floor, the cap missing.
"Didn't expect you so soon," she said, her voice wavering slightly as she struggled to free her arms.
"Is this why you couldn't meet me earlier?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.
Jake appeared behind me, leaning against the doorframe, and said, "We need to talk."
