I was never going to be a Harry, Percy, or even a Heathcliff.
I was never going to be a hero.
Or at least that’s what I thought.
My name sounds like theirs, but it’s not immediately recognizable.
It doesn’t come with a preordained destiny.
It doesn’t come with a built-in prophecy.
It’s just a name.
And I’m just a kid.
A very ordinary kid who grew up in a very ordinary way.
But that’s not true.
I wasn’t ordinary.
There was always something missing in my life—something I’d been waiting for since I was a kid.
And then it happened.
The day I turned 16 was like any other.
I woke up, got dressed, and went to school.
There, I waited for something—that something I’d always been waiting for.
I didn’t know what it was or when it would come, but I felt deep inside of me that it would change everything.
It would start everything.
And then, on my way home, it happened.
A flash of light, a whisper in my ear, and the world changed.
Nothing would ever be the same again.
I was no longer just a kid from a small town, raised by his single mother.
