Ayla
She is a high school student who cares deeply for her friends. She is protective, observant, and determined. Ayla often worries about her friend Marinette getting hurt, which happens frequently due to accidents. She discovers that Ladybug, a superhero, is causing harm to her friend. Ayla also harbors a secret crush on Marinette, adding complexity to their friendship. Her world becomes even more intriguing as she uncovers that Marinette knows Ladybug, further solidifying her desire to protect and be close to her friend.
Ladybug
She is a renowned superhero in Paris, known for fighting crime in disguise. Her actions lead to Marinette's injuries during a confrontation where she lost control and threw her opponent. Her relationship with Cat Noir suggests rivalry or alliance, possibly stemming from past conflicts. Her demeanor changes when around Marinette, indicating a softer side that contrasts with her public persona. This complexity makes it challenging for Ayla to understand Ladybug’s true nature.
Marinette
She is Ayla's best friend and a student at the French Academy of Heroism. She is caring, gentle, and brave. Despite frequently getting hurt in accidents, she shows remarkable courage when facing Ladybug's violent behavior. Marinette's connection to Ladybug raises questions about her safety, but her gentle nature suggests she doesn't intend to cause harm. Her relationship with Ladybug indicates a deeper association or possibly a past that affects their current dynamic, adding layers to her personality.
My name is Ayla and I am trying to figure out my friends' secret.
I just want to make sure she doesn't get hurt again.
She gets hurt a lot and I blame it on her clumsiness, but today she got hurt so bad that she broke 4 ribs.
The weird thing is that Ladybug and Cat Noir just got in a fight.
Ladybug threw Cat Noir and he landed on Marinette.
I just want to make sure Marinette is okay and I have a secret crush on her.
I want to make sure she stays safe.
If Ladybug is the one causing Marinette to get hurt, then I need to make sure Ladybug doesn't throw her again.
The only way I can do that is by figuring out who Ladybug is.
Marinette is my best friend and I know she knows Ladybug, but she won't tell me who Ladybug is.
I need to figure out who Ladybug is and then make sure Marinette stays away from her.
If Ladybug knows Marinette, then maybe Ladybug will be careful not to hurt Marinette again.
I am going to sit here and think about how I can figure out who Ladybug is.
Maybe I can ask my other friends if they know anything about Ladybug.
I am going to ask them tomorrow at school.
I spot Luka in the school courtyard during lunch break.
He is sitting on a bench with his guitar, and he is tuning it.
His blue-tipped hair is shining in the sunlight, and I can't help but stare at him for a moment before walking over to him.
"Hey Luka," I say as I sit down next to him on the bench.
"Hey Ayla," he says, not looking up from his guitar.
I watch as he runs his fingers over the strings, playing a few notes.
I can feel my heart beating faster as I think about how to ask him about Ladybug without giving away my feelings.
"So, have you seen Marinette lately?" he asks, looking up at me with a smile.
"No, she hasn't been in school for a few days," I reply.
"Yeah, I heard she got hurt pretty bad," he says, frowning slightly.
"I know. She's really clumsy sometimes," I say, trying to laugh it off. "Yeah, but Ladybug threw Cat Noir and he landed on Marinette," Luka says, looking at me with knowing eyes.
I feel my heart skip a beat as I realize that he knows something about Ladybug and Marinette.
"Yeah, but maybe Ladybug didn't know that Marinette was there," I say, trying to defend Ladybug.
"Maybe," Luka says, shrugging his shoulders.
"But if Ladybug knows Marinette, then maybe she won't throw her again," I say, trying to sound casual.
Luka looks at me with a knowing glint in his eye, and I can tell that he knows what I'm getting at.
"Marinette knows who Ladybug is," he says finally, confirming my suspicions.
I feel my heart race as I realize that Marinette has been keeping this secret from me all along.
"But you can't tell anyone," Luka adds quickly, looking around nervously. "I won't," I promise him, feeling my chest tighten with jealousy.
"Why didn't she tell me?"
I ask him quietly.
"She doesn't want anyone to know," Luka replies simply.
"But why?"
I press him further.
"Because it's a secret," Luka says firmly, looking at me with determination in his eyes.
"I understand," I say finally, nodding my head in understanding.
"But do you know who Ladybug is?" he asks me curiously.
I lean closer to him across the cafeteria table, my lunch forgotten.
"Do you know who Ladybug is?" I whisper, watching his expression carefully.
He shifts uncomfortably in his seat, glancing around the cafeteria before meeting my eyes.
"Yes," he admits quietly, "but I can't tell you."
My fingers clench around my water bottle.
First Marinette's secret connection to Ladybug, and now Luka knows the hero's identity too?
The plastic crackles under my grip as frustration builds.
Everyone seems to be in on this except me.
I stand up abruptly, my chair scraping against the floor.
"I'll find out on my own."
After my confrontation with Luka, I follow him from a distance as he leaves the cafeteria through the back exit.
He stops at his locker, fiddling with the lock before opening it.
I watch from behind the water fountain as he stuffs something small and dark into his backpack.
I can't quite make out what it is from where I'm standing.
My hands shake slightly as I grip the edge of the fountain.
He checks his phone, frowns, and then hurries toward the parking lot.
He doesn't even bother signing out at the office.
Through the window, I see him unlock his bike, nearly dropping his keys in his haste.
I take a deep breath and step out from behind the fountain, calling after him.
"Luka, wait!" I shout, my voice echoing in the empty hallway.
He stops, turning to face me with a resigned expression.
I watch as he turns away without answering, his shoulders tense as he finally unlocks his bike.
My feet stay rooted to the concrete while he pedals off toward the front gate.
The afternoon sun casts his shadow long across the pavement as he disappears around the corner.
I grip the straps of my backpack tightly, debating what to do next.
After a moment's hesitation, I start walking quickly in the same direction, keeping my distance but not letting him out of sight.
Each step feels like a betrayal of trust, but I need to know what's going on with Marinette.
