"Y - yet she’s not a real horse," my friend Zach says, chuckling.
"Yeah, but I’ve got four real legs now. Go figure."
I slur my words a bit.
I’ve been drinking heavily in the last hour, and it’s time to go.
The annual roundup is starting, and I’m one of the first "horses" to be ready.
I have an advantage over the other horses.
I have four legs instead of two.
My partner and I are both members of our all male college’s equestrian club, and we know what we’re doing.
We also know how to make this transformation as difficult as possible for our riders.
We have to be drunk when we start, which makes controlling us even more difficult for our partners.
We also have to be doubled over, so instead of having two legs in front and two in back, like a normal horse, we have all four legs bunched together in front, making us much more difficult to steer.
My partner grabs my shoulders and pulls me backward.
My four legs stumble to catch my balance.
"Come on, Caleb. Let’s go get your rider."
My name is Caleb, and I’ve never been a horse before, but I know what’s going on, even though I’m highly intoxicated.

I stumble toward the starting line, my four legs wobbling as Zach steadies me by the shoulders.
The other horses are gathering at the starting line, and they’re all in the same shape as I am.
They’re all quadruped, and they’re all swaying unsteadily.
Sean and Ethan join us, already laughing at our drunken attempts to coordinate our extra limbs.
The alcohol is making my movements looser and less controlled than usual, and I’m sure that’s true of the other horses as well.
My four feet shuffle awkwardly on the grass as I try to maintain my balance.
The other horses are similarly affected.
Their bare feet slide and tangle together as they adjust to their new forms.
Through my intoxicated haze, I can see that the other horses are getting more excited by the minute.
The alcohol is lowering their inhibitions, and they’re starting to get a little rowdy.

The alcohol is hitting me harder now, and my four legs are getting even more unsteady.
I look around and see that the other horses are having the same problem.
They’re all swaying and stumbling, and their extra limbs are tangling together as they try to stay upright.
One of them trips and stumbles into me, setting off a chain reaction of drunken horses bumping into each other.
Through my blurred vision, I can see that several of them are getting visibly aroused by the physical contact and situation.

Zach grips my shoulders tighter to keep me from falling over, but it’s no use.
My four feet shuffle around in an attempt to regain my balance, but I’m swaying too much.
The signal blares, and we lurch forward in a chaotic, tangled mass of limbs and laughter.
